Fokeman 8th Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumLinda Thompson - One Clear Moment (1985) | Usually when you "quote" a title it is expected to be correct... "Les Trois Beaux Oiseaux De Paradis" would be correct not "Les Trois Beaux du Paradis", which translates as the three good-looking guys from THE paradise rather than the three birds of paradise. In five years, one person thought this was a Helpful Review. I suggest it may have been the reviewer himself. I think that says it all...

Fokeman 8th Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumFairport Convention - John Babbacombe Lee (1972) | The catalogue number here is completely wrong. ILPS 9176 was the correct issue number.
Fokeman 8th Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSandy Denny - Like An Old Fashioned Waltz (1974) | Released in May 1974 according to the Fairport Tour Sampler of 1975. They're probably correct...
Fokeman 8th Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumFairport Convention - What We Did On Our Holidays (1968) | Released in January 1969 according to the Fairport Tour Sampler.
Fokeman 2nd Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumJune Tabor - Aqaba (1988) | I'm pretty sure that this is an error. It should have been 12TS449 I don't know how the P snuck into the equation. There is no other example of the 12TPS prefix and even on the back of the sleeve it was 12TS449.
Fokeman 29th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumIan Matthews - Some Days You Eat The Bear And Some Days The Bear Eats You (1974) | Although there are promo versions of this LP. It did come out as a stock copy on the same catalogue number and with the same tracks. We don't need to do separate listings for Promos and Stock copies if they have the same information.
The B which is found in brackets after the catalogue number is not necessarily part of the catalogue number as it is not found on the sleeve and indeed, the letter is not consistent. It is sometimes seen with a Y in this place.

Fokeman 29th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumColosseum - Daughter Of Time (1982) | I wonder if the final two numbers at the end of the matrix code are year codes?
Fokeman 27th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumColosseum - Daughter Of Time (1982) | Can you check this. Mine is DM 87205 A 2 /82 S
Fokeman 26th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumLeaf Hound - Growers Of Mushroom (2003) | Track B4 misspelled - should read "Sawdust Caesar", as it did on the original.
Fokeman 24th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Renbourn - Sir Jonalot Of Merrie Englandes Musykthyng And Oye Grene Knyghte (1978) | This is completely wrong...
It's a Double LP for starters! Being a mix of "Sir John Alot of Merrie Englandes..." and "Faro Annie"
Now corrected.
Fokeman 24th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumRoy Wood - The Roy Wood Story (1976) | Correct inner sleeves also exist with black ink printing of the same details.
Fokeman 22nd Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumRichard And Linda Thompson - Pour Down Like Silver (1975) | Dargai is an instrumental piece. Lots of Scottish tunes exist with the name because the Scottish Highlander Regiment was involved in a battle at Dargai during the Indian Wars. It is now a town in Pakistan. This tune was composed by RT. Therefore the credits are correct.
Tunes exist by Wallace, James Scott Skinner and several others, with the same name. There is also a famous bagpipe tune called "The Heights Of Dargai".
Fokeman 17th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumPiute Pete And His Country Cousins - Square Dances (1950) | I suppose the 1949 date relates to the slightly earlier release of the 78 rpm 12" records which contributed to the two sides playing at 33 1/3 rpm
Fokeman 11th Dec 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumMiss Toni Fisher - The Big Hurt (1960) | This was not the same Signet label as the Peggy Seeger record, which was issued several years before Wayne Shanklin created the label here.
Fokeman 25th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumColosseum - Daughter Of Time (1970) | First issue French swirl label now uploaded.
Fokeman 24th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumColosseum - Daughter Of Time (1970) | This is a cut & shut. The French issue had a French label not a German label. I'll put my French label up tomorrow...
Fokeman 22nd Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumRare Bird - Rare Bird (1969) | I changed the date from Nov 1969 to December 10th because Gail Coulson who was with the label in a senior position for most of the life of the company specifically noted the date of this - the first Charisma LP. This is stated in Mark Jones' excellent book - The History of the Charisma & B&C labels.
Fokeman 20th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumRare Bird - Rare Bird (1969) | Gail Coulson states December 10th 1969 as the date of release of this LP.
Fokeman 18th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumScullion - Scullion (1979) | Oddly, the single released from this LP was "The Fruitsmelling Shop" one word whereas here it is "The Fruit Smelling Shop".
Fokeman 12th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBarry Humphries - Sandy Agonistes (1961) | It would be interesting to note that the friend was actually Bill Leader and it is quite probable that he was actually operating the machine for Humphries at the time. This is much more likely than that he lent out his precious equipment to someone inexperienced in its operation. It might be that by describing it thus, BH absolved himself of the need of actually thanking anyone for the recording of his performance.
Fokeman 12th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Paranoid (1970) | Highly reflective laminate makes photos difficult.
Fokeman 12th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumLindisfarne - Nicely Out Of Tune (1970) | [YouTube Video]
One for Rab Noakes!
Fokeman 5th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJames Last Band - Non Stop Dancing 7 (1968) | These are both labels for side 1, can you add side 2 label please?
Fokeman 5th Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Paranoid (1970) | It's odd that nowhere on the label itself does it state the title of the LP, only the group.
Fokeman 2nd Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Young - On The Beach (1974) | Having now added all the tracks on this record, and despite possibly some of the worst images on our site, it is just about ready to be accepted. If anyone has any further information to add or better images, PLEASE feel free to add them or put any further information in comments.
Fokeman 2nd Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAlice Cooper - Love It To Death (1971) | My copy is an early version with a white sleeve and only a thin strip (about half of the height) in black with the photo of the band. I wonder if this is a first issue or just an aberration? On second thoughts it must be a hurried second printing to avoid having the thumb sticking out like an obvious suggested penis...
So I suppose my copy is "version 3"
Fokeman 2nd Nov 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumMagnum - Wings Of Heaven (1988) | This was the European issue I think. My copy was bought in France but with BIEM STEMRA on the labels.
Fokeman 30th Oct 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Dylan - Fallen Angels (2016) | Just opened a copy of this I bought in 2020 still sealed. Very disappointed to find it was horribly scratched on one track on side 1. How did that happen? It was sealed but with a horrible scratch?
It's not a good album though with Dylan singing 1930s style slow Al Bowlly style lounge songs. If there's a style suited to Dylan's singing voice, it's not this one!
Fokeman 29th Oct 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Who - A Quick One/The Who Sell Out (1974) | Track C1 written by John "Speedy" Keen (not Keene) of Thunderclap Newman and a friend of Pete's. Pete produced many of Thunderclap Newman's hits such as Something In The Air.
Fokeman 29th Oct 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumStray - Suicide (1971) | I'm just listening to a first pressing of this. A really enjoyable listen. Takes you straight back to 1971.
