GimmeVinyl 20th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Guy And Junior Wells - Play The Blues (1972) | Yeah, I've heard this album.. pretty cool stuff on it!
GimmeVinyl 18th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Yardbirds - For Your Love (1965) | Yeah, there's a few tunes that feature Eric "Slowhand" Clapton on them..
GimmeVinyl 18th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Yardbirds - Having A Rave Up With The Yardbirds! (1965) | As for being electronically re-channelled.. it's not half as bad as some that I've heard from RCA Victor or Capitol. At least this LP isn't heavily laden with reverb.
As for what janiejjones was asking about re-issue.. It's my understanding that the A side was a collection of The Yardbirds singles, and the B side was lifted from the UK Columbia LP, Five Live Yardbirds.. something that wasn't released in the USA. At one time I had a Canadian copy of that on the Charly label.. and yes, it was a Canadian pressing, not from the UK.. the labels were different. Bought it at a record shop in Windsor, Ontario.

GimmeVinyl 18th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumRichard And Willie - Red White And Blue From A Black Point Of View (1976) | Also known as Willie Tyler and Lester.

GimmeVinyl 18th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumLa Wanda [Page] - Watch It Sucker! (1977) | My friends over at Hello Records in Lincoln Park Michigan actually have a copy of this for sale. Price is $30.. as I have read on Wikipedia, it's as raunchy, and as hilarious as her other albums.. if the pressing is as clean as the other LPs I've recently purchased, I just might have to pull the trigger on this one..
GimmeVinyl 18th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumLa Wanda [Page] - Pipe Layin' Dan (1973) | Fellow Catters, I can't make this up.. just reading the track titles has me in stitches... Lol!
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumLa Wanda [Page] - Preach On Sister, Preach On! (1973) | La Wanda Page preaches the gospel... But not in the way Aunt Esther would have!!
Another must have..
Pressed at Columbia's Santa Maria plant in California.
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumLa Wanda [Page] - Mutha Is Half A Word (1970) | Here it is.. La Wanda Page's first LP for the Laff record label. There are more than 10 tracks on both sides, so I couldn't list them all...
La Wanda Page didn't start her stand up comedy act until Skillet and Leroy talked her into it in the mid 60's..
This LP is raunchy, blue, and side splitting hilarious, I have heard... Definitely on my wanted radar.
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSkillet And Leroy And La Wanda - Back Door Daddy (1972) | OMG... Is that... Aunt Esther, bent over like that? Sure is... La Wanda Page teams up with Skillet and Leroy for this LP...
Haven't heard it yet, but it's out there, and I've heard it's gut busting hilarious. I've heard that La Wanda Page's stand up comedy act can be pretty blue, lol... So don't play this with the kiddies around, ok..
I've added the Danish CD reissue front cover... Just for "shiggles"...

GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Troup - Piano Magic (1960) | Recorded July, 1957. Originally released as Bobby Swings Tenderly, Mode Records, catalog # MOD LP 111
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Troup - ... In A Class Beyond Compare (1981) | "Start a I.V., lactose with ringers, and prepare to transport.." I know Dr. Brackett said that on the TV show "Emergency".. but I'm pretty sure that Dr. Early also said it once or twice.
Yeah, I've been on a Bobby Troup kick lately as per the 2 LPs I've purchased today.. This one, and the Bobby Troup and His Stars of Jazz on RCA Victor from 1959.
I think this whole LP is pretty cool.. done as a 3 piece trio with vocals. Bobby Troup on piano and vocals, Bob Enevolsen on bass, and Al Viola on electric guitar.
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Troup - And His Stars Of Jazz (1959) | Recorded in Hollywood on October 24, November 10, and December 3, 1958. Released in mono and Living Stereo in 1959.
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Troup - And His Stars Of Jazz (1977) | And yes, I own the original US 1959 LSP-1959 Living Stereo pressing.. bought it today. I will be adding this a little later. Very cool album
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNat "King" Cole And His Trio - After Midnight (1957) | I'm going to take a guess here that the jacket is pretty much the same as the US release.
Looking at the label, my educated guess is this LP was pressed in 1962, or later.
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNat "King" Cole - After Midnight (1978) | Just bought a near mint copy today. No Duophonic crap.. Mono, just as it was intended.. recorded in 1956.
The two tracks that are missing from the original 1956 LP are "Sometimes I'm Happy" and "When I Get Too Old To Dream".
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNat King Cole And His Trio - After Midnight (1956) | These are all 1956 recordings... And done very nicely too!
GimmeVinyl 17th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSkillet And Leroy - The Goodly Soul (1971) | There is a LP on the Laff label featuring Skillet, Leroy, and La Wanda Page titled Back Door Daddy..
La Wanda Page (Aunt Esther from Sanford and Son) was a stand up comedian well before becoming a TV star, and knew Redd Foxx for many years, and in fact were good friends.
Of course, Skillet and Leroy were also guest stars on Sanford and Son..
So far, no one has listed La Wanda Page's Laff LPs on 45worlds, and I think that's a shame... I'll bet you my bottom dollar that they are hilarious!!
According to Wikipedia, La Wanda Page is also on this LP.. although she seems to be uncredited.

GimmeVinyl 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Speedway (1968) | Yep... Weird seeing the black 1965-67 style label halfway through 1968...
GimmeVinyl 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Speedway (1968) | This is a little bit odd seeing the 1965-67 style black label with the big RCA Victor on the top... I thought that this label had been replaced with the orange label by '68..
GimmeVinyl 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong (1962) | I'll swear I own this.. on the later 70s-80s black label. Catalog # is also updated .. AFL1-2075(e)
GimmeVinyl 16th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis' Golden Records (1962) | Sometimes curiosity gets the best of me... This LP came to me in a collection of Elvis LPs that was given to me by my wife's mother after her sister passed away. I wasn't much of a collector of Elvis LPs... But I do own a few Elvis singles. The LPs are very clean, on the black label used by RCA in the late 70s- 80s.. keep them, right? Of course!
Haven't played this one, till today. For whatever reason played "Love Me"... What in the world?? What is with all the heavy reverb? All I can ask is... Why? Did Dave Dexter wander into RCA's studios, and say "Hey... I can fix that!" Good golly miss Molly.. To say I would appreciate the mono tracks in their original glory would be an understatement.. There's a reason I usually steer clear of electronically processed stereo LPs. Same goes for Capitol's Duophonic LPs...

GimmeVinyl 15th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | The results are in.. my Winchester pressing has the 35 mm pressing ring, on the B side it is very noticeable. On the B side you can also see the 13 mm ring quite clearly. Matrix numbers as follows.. SO-1-383-A27, SO-2-F26#2. With the info at hand, I'm lead to believe that my copy is definitely after 1970... The 1971 repress. Yeah, I was hoping for the illusive "second pressing".. but no dice. Still, it has the sound that George Martin had intended, and not a remaster.
GimmeVinyl 14th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | Thank you W.B.lbl for the info... I wasn't going by the pressing rings, I was going by matrix numbers. I may have been just a wee bit confused, by mixing up "second pressing" with the '71 repress. In this case, one cannot go by the label, nor the jacket to put a date on it.. to me, they both look identical. They both have the access box on the front, and they both list Her Majesty on the back and on the label of side 2. Now, I've made up a list of both of the Winchester matrix numbers from the listings I have seen, which I will compare with the copy that I've purchased. With this info, and the info of the pressing rings, I should be able to establish just which copy I own...
GimmeVinyl 14th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | I'm being told that the second pressing copies from Winchester weren't released until 1971.. with matrix # starting at SO-1-383-P14 and SO-2-383-P14...
I'm going to have to double check the matrix #s on my Winchester pressing for verification.
I got scolded on Discogs for changing the year of the Winchester second pressing from 1971 to 1969. Does anyone have irrefutable proof that the second pressing is indeed from late '69 or early '70?
GimmeVinyl 13th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | Umm... The small squarish thing that is imbedded into the pavement below Ringo and John's foot... Is this the "drain"? To me it looks like some sort of access cover..
GimmeVinyl 10th Mar 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | Just picked up a nice Winchester copy today... It has Her Majesty on the back, but I don't see a street drain.. it matches the jacket listed.
GimmeVinyl 22nd Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe King Cole Trio - Volume 3 (1951) | Ok, I'll comment. This pressing is a little later reissue, from September, 1953. The 1951 issue would have been a blue label, with "Microgroove" and "33 1/3" on the bottom of the label. This pressing wouldn't be in the Capitol catalog very long after that, as Capitol started discontinuing the 10 inch LPs in 1954, and added songs to popular selling 10 inch LPs to make 12 inch LPs in the T series. Look at Capitol T-591 in comparison.

GimmeVinyl 7th Feb 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSanford And Son - Sanford And Son (1972) | I had a well used copy of this LP.. it was hilarious! I'd love to find another.
GimmeVinyl 3rd Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles Featuring Tony Sheridan - The Beatles Featuring Tony Sheridan (1976) | I had a copy of this... A long, long time ago. I think that I bought it at K-mart. Played the hell out of it in my teen years. Neither I, nor my trusty Emerson portable with the BSR plastic plattered changer were very kind to it at the time. Never thought of it as being particularly collectable back then.

GimmeVinyl 7th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumRoger Waters - The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking (1984) | One of my favorite album jackets...
