jordansongs 13th Sep 2015		Vinyl Album The Beatles - The Essential Beatles (1972)	The true stereo "Baby You're A Rich Man" is now on the "Magical Mystery Tour" CD (and vinyl). The 1999 version from the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" is actually a new remix.
jordansongs 13th Sep 2015		Vinyl Album The Beatles - The Essential Beatles (1972)	The stereo mix of "Baby You're A Rich Man" wasn't widely available at the time. The US "Magical Mystery Tour" LP used a reprocessed stereo mix. The first time a true stereo version was issued was on the German "MMT" LP in 1971 but presumably the Aussies weren't given access to that mix in 1972.
jordansongs 12th Aug 2015		Vinyl Album Shakin' Stevens - Shakin' Stevens (1980)	I've listed this one over on 12" world. Not sure which world it belongs in really, 4 tracks, roughly 12 minutes in length but plays at 33 1/3 rpm and the cat no fits in with Epic's LPs. There are similar releases in the 'Nu Disk' series by Gary Glitter and Rick Nelson as well as Black Market Clash, although that one had a longer running time than the other releases.

jordansongs 21st May 2015		Vinyl Album The Beatles - Revolver (1966)	....I guess that there were no marketing ploys involved in the timing, just plain old co-incidence. janiejjones, it would seem there was an agreement in place where covers of new Lennon/McCartney or Harrison tunes weren't released before the Beatles versions. In addition to the Loose Ends version of Taxman, Cliff Bennett's version of Got To Get You Into My Life was also released on the same day as Revolver. See also the Hollies version of If I Needed Someone (released the same day as Rubber Soul), the Young Idea's With A Little Help From My Friends (released a day after Sgt. Pepper) and Trash's Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight which shared a release date with Abbey Road.
jordansongs 31st Jan 2015		Vinyl Album Wings - Wings Greatest (1978)	After further investigation, there are several examples of Linda receiving a credit on covers of Wings tunes which were released in the 1970s so it's definitely not a retrospective change. It doesn't solve the mystery of why she didn't get a proper credit on the original Wings releases however.
jordansongs 31st Jan 2015		Vinyl Album Wings - Wings Greatest (1978)	Linda now seems to get a co-writing credit on all re-issues of the 1973-76 Wings material even though they were just credited to 'McCartney' on the original issues (or was that just shorthand for Paul & Linda?) Interestingly, the original soundtrack album for Live And Let Die does give Linda a credit, as does Jungle Juice's cover of Zoo Gang. I believe ATV Music head Lew Grade attempted to sue McCartney at the time as he was a bit miffed at losing 50% of his copyright on any song that was allegedly co-written by Linda. Maybe the legal shenanigans are a reason why she didn't get a credit on the original issues. Whatever your opinion on Linda's credibility as a songwriter, her creative juices seem to have dried up after 1976 as she receives no writing credits on any of Paul's releases after that time (or maybe that's just when McCartney's contract with ATV came to an end....)

jordansongs 13th Jan 2015		Vinyl Album The Beatles - Songs And Pictures Of The Fabulous Beatles / Introducing The Beatles (1980)	The legitimate release was titled Songs, Pictures AND STORIES Of The Fabulous Beatles and had a different track listing and an annotated gatefold sleeve (hence the omission of the 'Stories' part of the title on the bootleg). More details here.

It's definitely the version that was available over the counter in the UK but for some reason the sleeve notes are all in Spanish! Also, I'd always assumed it was a Parlophone release (it has a UK Parlophone cat no) but there is no mention of that anywhere on the record or sleeve so I've put it on the Hispavox label.

jordansongs 27th Feb 2014		Vinyl Album Wings - Wings Over America (1976)	The correct cat no for this is PCSP 720 (it's visible on the spine but not the back cover). It follows the series of Beatles double albums PCSP 717, PCSP 718 and PCSP 719. In fact,this was the first in the series and should be changed to PCSP 716 (again, the cat no is on the spine and not the cover).

jordansongs 9th Feb 2014		Vinyl Album Shakin' Stevens And The Sunsets - The Rock 'N Shaki (1984)	With regards to the title, there is a German black vinyl edition entitled The Rockin' Shaky. http://music.3sky.de/ShakinStevens/LPs/LPcover/therockinshaky_2LP_cova.jpg Do we assume the reversed 'Y' has been obscured, or perhaps this edition should just be called The Rock'n Shaki?
