OldMod67 7th Sep 2024		Vinyl Album Anthony Meynell And Squire - September Gurls (1984)	@JohhnyCool: Yeah, like the Merton Parkas 12" that surfaced with singles tracks. I seem to remember they were described as mini albums, maybe due to the number of tracks... I'm glad this is coming out, but hoped there would be a mono of the expanded edition. I did look for the mono when the original came out, but saw nothing that it was cancelled. It wasn't until 2019 when Anthony showed me the cover if the upcoming expanded edition that I mentioned not finding a mono; he said then that it didn't make it to release. He did say how good it sounded though, so can't wait to here it properly. I did suggest a mono EP too, bearing in mind the mixes he's sitting on, which would be a nice edition to the Squire catalogue.

It includes all the original content, except Rock 'n' Roll Woman and an instrumental coda from And Another Thing. Added to the tracklisting are some singles cuts and A3, A6, B2 are three previously unreleased tunes. Gaps in writing credits as per labels. On the Hip 45, B5 is listed as D. Seals, J. Colley and B7 listed as J. Durrell
OldMod67 6th Apr 2024		Vinyl Album Spencer Davis Group - The Best Of The Spencer Davis Group Featuring Stevie Winwood (1986)	A long ago puzzle for me is the change in cover art between this and the original issue. When I got this in 1986 I noticed the difference to the the illustration on the back of the Best of EP which I'd bought three years earlier. The difference in alignment of titles with Trampoline stuck out at the end just looked weird. What seems to have occurred is the original cover title Please Do Something has been removed and a re-jig taken place. Together Till The End Of Time meanwhile, doesn't appear on either cover. I wondered if I'd missed a comment somewhere on the site and even second guessed myself in case I'd left one already. Last minute track change in '67, covers already printed? Perhaps the artwork change happened before '86. Just wondered.

Tracks are as listed on the label and sleeve (unnecessary error dept) Side One actually plays A2 and A3 the other way around.

OldMod67 21st Apr 2023		Vinyl Album The Ventures - The Guitar Genius Of The Ventures (1968)	I purchased a lovely copy of this for a fiver the other day. Popped it on today to find that A1 is the mistitled A Go Go Dancer, not the fabulous, sinister sounding, organ infused tune I was expecting.

It was late coming out and with the label issues wasn't around for too long either. The date you give seems a lot closer, as I got the Art For All comp (Whaam! BIG 8) in the Summer. I haven't had a dive into my scrapbooks and modzines looking for this as I didn't notice this 1985 date until yesterday.
OldMod67 15th Apr 2023		Vinyl Album Television Personalities - The Painted Word (1985)	I don't have any press releases or flyers, but I'm pretty sure the release date here is a little late. I am convinced I bought it in 1984 (great year for albums, for me anyway!). I saw it at my local Our Price and indie (Armadillo) and purchased it at one or the other (Armadillo I think). I haven't submitted a request to change in case a member has more than their memory to rely on.

I remember seeing a lot of this series in coloured vinyl, but I was either still at school or just leaving and just didn't have the funds. This would have been the early eighties and to this day I still haven't bought them! Volume 3 was as clear and I think I saw it more often than the others. Can't recall seeing the whole series in coloured, but a fair few. I think most were translucent, including a rancid looking brown.
