Various Artists - The Tape With No Name (1987)
Review
I first came across this album via the free tape that was given with NME back in 1987. At the time my musical taste was expanding but had yet to understand the attraction of country music and Americana however this selection of "New Country" soon found itself being on constant play that year. Over the years the tape was hidden away but often was dug out and played and always enjoyed, so imagine my joy at finding this a few years ago at a boot sale for I think £1!

The album gives a selection of what then was the rising stars of country with a few "oldies" chucked in for good measure. Dwight Yoakam giving it all he's got, the harmony of Sweethearts Of The Rodeo, Randy Travis on the way to fame and fortune and the late great Johnny Cash telling a great story of Hank Williams.

You may not be a country fan but this album is good in that it gives you a selection of what was the best around 1987, some have gone on to be huge, some never hit the level many thought they would and some have died along the way but NME got it right when the said this album was farewell to Nash-Trash and hello to the new Hard Core of Country.

The chances are you will not find this album (only 750 pressed) but look out for the tape as they turn up quite often.

MM I just picked this album up and you can see the covers/labels on my issue are again made in England (printed by Garrod & Lofthouse) yet a different cover design to yours. Anyone any idea which was used first?

The Jimmy Castor Bunch - It's Just Begun (2010)
Is this one an actual bootleg or a repressing. If it came with a SIAE sticker attached it could well have been a legit issue. I also notice that the dynaflex is missing off the labels as being a later issue it would not have been dynaflex vinyl.

It shows on that other site as being reissued in the USA a few times in recent years. Is any detail contained in the deadwax of the copy listed here?

Miley Cyrus - Bangerz (2013)
I bought this online for a mate of mine (scanning it first before handing it over) I think for around £35 which I thought was a bit pricey at the time for a wannabe pop star. I see that now when this does turn up on ebay and the like it sells for £250+. No accounting for taste.

Kris Gietkowski - Songs From The First Album By Egg (2017)
If you wondering how the cat#'s seem to work on Fruits De Mer & Regal Crabomophone, the "Strange Fish" sequence is used across both labels for a series of albums that are instrumental tracks influenced by (as they say) classic krautrock, kosmische sounds, motorik beats, progressive rock, acid-jams, minimalist and ambient music, old and new.

Original material is released on Regal Crabomophone whilst classic and obscure tracks, reinterpreted by artists are released on the Fruits De Mer label.

Kris Gietkowski - Songs From The First Album By Egg (2017)
Blagged from the Fruits De Mer website:

So I was idly having a wander round youtube, looking for inspiration/hidden gems when I happened to find a cover of a track from Egg’s first album – the first ‘out there’ album I bought (over 45 years ago), I fell in love with the original album, playing it constantly - in fact, it’s responsible for much of my obsession with music ever since.

‘While Growing My Hair’ had been posted on youtube two years ago by a group called ‘Gietek’ but had less than 1,000 views – but it was wonderful, it took me back to 1970! After much chasing, Gietek turned out to be the work of ONE MAN…Kris Gietkowski; he had recorded much of Egg’s first LP (and much more) for his own enjoyment and was a bit shocked that some silly sod with a little record label wanted to release any of it – but I did – and there IS more to come, but for now, here is most of Egg’s first, and very wonderful, first LP, re-recorded by a guy called Kris Gietkowski – I don’t think Fruits de Mer’s original aim to be “willfully obscure” has ever been summed up better.

Kris shares a little of his story….”I was born in Poland, didn't have any good instruments so I improvised. I used old radios to make their amplification circuits to distort my acc guitar and keys. I made a lot of music that way. Some of it I still have on my PC drive, for purely sentimental reasons. Very early experimental stuff. Then I moved to the UK ten years ago, got my electric and bass and keys, then Hammond organ with Leslie, then sold it and bought Nord C2, hoping to play with others. I saw England as a musician's heaven but that soon changed. I went to different jam nights, open mics, etc. My last audition - the three guys were shocked and displeased when I suggested tempo change and two drum breaks with a bass solo in one song (I never heard from them since might I add...). Why do people want all those restrictions? Isn't music a form of art?”

Anyone any ideas if this an export copy? I have a USA printed sleeve with a Made in England record. I notice on the other site that there is a Canadian copy with same sleeve but with a Made in Europe record.

North Korean being very topical at the moment; track D1 title "Kwangmyŏngsŏng " translates as "Bright Star" or "Brilliant Star" in Korean which is the title of a poem written by Kim Il-sung. It is also the name of a class of satellites built by North Korea, first launched in the mid-1980s.

Without the scans it is difficult to confirm 100% the cat# or if it is already entered on the system. This was added 2 years ago and I don't think the member who added it has been online for a similar length of time, so anyone else out there with this one please fill in the blanks.

I bought this last week at a boot sale from a guy selling his personal collection. I thought the same regarding covers and discs. He stated that he bought it from new and this is how it came.
I have changed the year to '71.

Hi Lee I replied on your other comment here.

The image you state was "lifted" from pitchfork did not and I have replied to that comment here.

Regarding this one, I have deleted the image on this entry as it seems to cause some concern and I will endeavour to make some time to get the album scanned for you this week.

I will delete the comments once I get the scans up as by then they will not make sense to someone coming late in to the conversation.

No problem - comments noted.
Whilst Lee states "Sometimes nothing is better than anything I think" I think a generic cover is better than nothing but then that just my opinion.
Regarding the pilfering quote the cover comes from a site with no legal or copyright issues and is only used as the original poster or one of the actual owner hasn't supplied a photo or scan. Easily deleted in the future once they supply the "genuine" thing.
Feel free to delete any images that you believe fail to serve a purpose be they generic copies or any that I scan.

Deep Purple - The Now What ?! Live Tapes (2013)
There is no need to list every track with (Live) unless that is how it is listed on the label.

If I understand your question right, you are looking for a copy around the £17 mark therefore the best option is a google search for the album which throws up several sellers.

Regarding the name I have acknowledged the information in the notes so that if searched for as "Deep ?urple" it will be found.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell (1977)
Review
Classed by many as heavy metal this album is more of symphonic masterpiece, pure theatre on vinyl.

If it somehow passed you by listen at least to the title track, getting on for nearly 10 minutes of pure music masterclass from Jim Steinman, performed by Marvin Aday aka Meat Loaf.

It has it all, drama, love, death, motorbikes, guitar riffs and solos over a pounding beat.

You'll then see why this album became one of the best selling albums of all time .
