TopPopper 14th Jun 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The History Of Rock Volume Thirty Five (1986) | Not sure Lou Reed was a one-hit wonder!
|
TopPopper 22nd May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Essential Beatles (1972) | Rock N Roll Music was a double LP, but when re-issued as two singles, LP 1 included, "I Wanna Be Your Man", "Boys" and "Matchbox".

TopPopper 19th May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Top Fifteen Flower Power (1967) | I have now split this across five separate entries, one for each country. These are great records, and thanks for uploading them all, but please could you put different editions on separate pages. They can then be linked using the "Add Linked Release" option at the bottom of the page (as I have done in this case). Cheers.

TopPopper 19th May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul And Linda McCartney - Ram (1971) | Very unlikely. However you could possibly find a needle drop if you're just wanting to hear it.
|
TopPopper 17th May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Lennon - Rock 'N' Roll (1978) | The front cover photo isn't just John - Paul, Stu and George are the guys walking past - and on the back of this and other editions, there's mention of McCartney Music (copyright owner of "Peggy Sue"). Thus, Paul has his photo and name on this album sleeve.

TopPopper 3rd May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Five Americans - The Five Americans' Progressions (1967) | If so, why is there a possessive apostrophe after the word Progressions?

TopPopper 1st May 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumMarty Gold - Moog Plays The Beatles (1970) | More modest

Fabulous track

TopPopper 8th Apr 2020 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Top Of The Pops: Vol. 23 (1972) | I'll bet Google is faster than me, but after two years, three months, I can reveal the answer is ... The New Seekers.
Ask me another and I'll get back to you in July 2022 :)

TopPopper 27th Mar 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumKate Bush - The Kick Inside (1978) | [YouTube Video]
OK, we all know the song, but check out the bass. Whoever it is knows their way around the fret board.

TopPopper 21st Feb 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Dylan - Planet Waves (1974) | ReviewA contender for Dylan's most under-rated album. Generally speaking, not a bad track on the LP, except the fast version of Forever Young is probably expendable. Also, great reunion of Dylan and the Band after several years of the partnership being in stasis. Possibly the album has failed to be regarded as one of Dylan's greats due to being followed up by Blood On The Tracks then Desire, which have captured most of the plaudits.

TopPopper 11th Feb 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles Box (1980) | I wonder why they used a Pepper-era photo on this album?
|
TopPopper 13th Jan 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul And Linda McCartney - Ram (1971) | I heard it has recently come to light that unbeknownst to all, this album was produced by George Martin!
|
TopPopper 10th Jan 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Big Beat Of The Beatles (1964) | I would suggest we keep them. They look to be the same labels as the precedings pair of images, but better quality. They just need editing. I would do it, but I'm pressed for time right now.

TopPopper 15th Dec 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumWings - Greatest (1978) | Boy bands tend not to play their own instruments, break ground in the use of recording technology, make landmark albums or change the course of western culture.
|
TopPopper 3rd Nov 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - 12 Tops (1973) | My guess is that the 25p sticker was added by a second-hand record dealer, and 60p was the price when new.
|
TopPopper 29th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (1976) | Just to be pedantic, the album was available in the UK from 1973, but not on vinyl.
|
TopPopper 20th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Please Please Me (1963) | Mis-pressings like that do occur from time to time. What you have is probably worth something - collectors take increasing interest in mis-pressed records, and the Beatles are the most collactable of the lot.

TopPopper 20th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumMajella - The Spinning Wheel And Other Irish Favourites (1970) | SHM 699 is 1970, so I have changed it.
|
TopPopper 20th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Hits '67 (1967) | Is it a manufacturer's sticker, or one put on by the retailer? If the former, I catalogue these variants, so would be interested to see an image.

TopPopper 20th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Cash - I Walk The Line (1971) | Agreed the date was wrong, but changed to 1973, not 1971. Many of these Hallmark LPs were released some years after recording, so the dates on the packaging are not always good to refer to. A good method to date them is to check the cat numbers against the Top of the Pops releases on the label between 1968 and 1982. These are all listed correctly on the site, so in this case, for example, SHM 849 will have been released alongside the Top of the Pops LPs, SHM 845 and SHM 850. Ergo, 1973.

TopPopper 19th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Top Of The Pops: Vol. 86 (1981) | Indeed, "Top of the Poppers" was a name the label sometimes used, but it's more of a marketing thing than an actual credit for an actual artist. These recordings were made by an outside firm called Coombe Music and to all intents and purposes, the recording act was left anonymous.

TopPopper 22nd Sep 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumMitch Ryder - The Detroit-Memphis Experiment (1969) | Not sure what you mean
|
TopPopper 28th Aug 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumJimi Hendrix - Crash Landing (1975) | Sapper - or someone with a copy - can you clarify whether the sleeve goes with this edition? The cat number on the back of the sleeve does not match the labels.
|
TopPopper 26th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Top Of The Pops (1973) | Have deleted the image, which was the UK sleeve. The correct sleeve for this album has the Diskos logo, and the UK catalogue number is removed. I've also changed the artist to [no artist listed] - the credit 'Top of the Poppers' does not appear on this product.
|
TopPopper 26th May 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumSergio Mendes And Brasil '66 - Fool On The Hill (1968) | I just heard that a US record store back in the 1960s refused to stock this album, as they claim it's in "bad taste graphically" in respect of the inside images. Does anyone know what the problem was?

TopPopper 2nd Mar 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Daniels Band - Fire On The Mountain (1980) | Lacking any images, do you have a point of reference we could check?

TopPopper 2nd Mar 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumDoris Day - Singin' In The Rain (1968) | Thanks for flagging this up, ppint. Have corrected the artist name, corrected the label, added the missing tracks, added the songwriter credits and sourced a better cover image.
