Andrew Jackson 22nd Sep 2020		Because EMI used the Capitol master tapes for the UK release in 1976, it's one of the few places to hear the original 1966 stereo mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever".



TopPopper 29th Oct 2019		Just to be pedantic, the album was available in the UK from 1973, but not on vinyl.



stoutfellow51 14th Aug 2019		This album with 11 tracks was based on the Magical Mystery Tour USA release and had not been issued in the UK prior to 1976. In 1967 the UK version of MMT consisted of two 7" EP's in a picture sleeve featuring only the six songs from the film soundtrack. In the US however they opted for an 11 track album from the outset in 1967 with a different sleeve to the UK EP release. The US album had all six movie tracks on side one with five non-movie songs that had been released as singles at various times in 1967 on side two. Prior to 1976 UK-based Beatles fans who wanted the album version of MMT were able to get it as an import.

Neil Forbes 25th Sep 2015		What got me was the superfluous addition of the EMI logo at the top, above the Parlophone logo, when it was already present at the bottom, below the track list and performer credit.

wordnwot 15th May 2014		Added label variant with Peripheral copyright splurb includes the word 'renting'. See close-up. Text on label organised differently affecting track titles. Plus the sleeve has bar-code and Sleeve printed in England. Manufactured in England. on back cover, dating this one circa 1984 onwards ish????



TopPopper 17th Sep 2013		That's right. It was a US package originally. EMI/Apple have more or less absorbed it into the group's main discography, and it appears in box sets etc as if it's a standard UK release - but we ought to remember that it was a compilation put together by Capitol, rounding up all the group's 7-inch releases of 1967.
