Whyperion SUBS 6th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Reggae Greats Vol. 2 (1974) | I assume the record being pressed in the US was to do with oil crises and labour issues in the UK 1973/74 ? Or were some jacketed and sent to other worldwide countries / US distribution ??

Whyperion SUBS 21st Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumCharlie Kunz - Charlie Kunz Selection (1953) | Charlie Kunz had earlier cut Piano Roll of Walter Donaldson Fox-Trots. A couple of the tunes feature on this LP and related EPs but I dont think all were recorded as a special to Donaldson on one disc

Whyperion SUBS 19th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Hits '67 (1967) | My copy has a sticker on front sleeve at 11/- written. So 12/6 was too expensive for a budget sale in 1967 !

Whyperion SUBS 19th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe 50 Guitars Of Tommy Garrett - Go South Of The Border (1962) | Question Discogs does not list the F suffix cat number, does the S in a circle indicate that this is Stereo, there is no other info on the label or sleeve. Do any pressings exist without an F Suffix ?

Whyperion SUBS 9th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe English Concert - The Four Seasons | Played on a Baroque Violin the tone is different to modern, or C19th instruments, being 'sharper' and for the viols a brighter bass area, to my ears I actually dont like it, prefering modern interpretations of Spring.

Pickwick International Inc. (GB) Ltd.
from classicalmusicselloff.weebly.com .. (webcache- maybe they changed their mind !)
" First, it must be said that the Allegro Label was renowned for their terrible pressings. This recording is somewhat dated and a little boxy. That's the bad side. Emil Gilels' playing of the Concerto is magnificent. He brings an epic feel to the work and delivers a performance which is both exciting and Romantic. Samasud may not be a name that is well known to Western audiences but he was a massive personality in Russia (USSR) and the Soviet Bloc. The performance is well worth investigating and Emil Gilels makes this LP a must. " ( and they are/were selling it at £1.99 plus the postage.
I wonder where Allegro sourced the recording from? As ever the sleeve notes are pretty comprehensive and almost worth re-typing.

So glad we also recorded this in Abbey Road. In the Albert Hall version a certain SA official made sure my mic wasn't up in the mix and didn't want the song on the album. Sitting in the sound booth with the producers they told me he derided almost every note. However, an EMI producer told him, 'B......d,. If you don't have this track, you don't have an album. We walk out.' Those were the days! Love flows more readily toward us in retrospect "
In my opinion live or otherwise the track is not that well presented, the words demand a style of presentation that is beyond what Bill and others actually achieved at the time.

Whyperion SUBS 22nd Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumMantovani And His Orchestra - The World Of Mantovani Vol.2 (1969) | Oh great, just realised I have picked this up in another job lot, ( collected for Charity shop to keep the donator happy incase anything else passes out of the house later ). So on for another play, on the mono machine, must get the Stereo HMV sorted at sometime to hear in all its bestness. The donation came in an incorrect inner sleeve so I shuffled around to get a proper Decca blue stereo inner from the rest of the pile that came in.
