Jackie DeShannon recorded "Try to forget him" in 1961, although her version didn't appear until this "You won't forget me" album came out in 1965. P J Proby put out a single on Liberty of "Try to forget her", in 1961. Proby's song is ponderous and recalls Roy Orbison. Jackie's is bright and suggests Bobby Vee. Proby's says it was written by Dick Glasser. DeShannon's says that she wrote the song. Despite vastly different arrangements and a change of gender, they are the same song!
I have just noticed (after very many years) that my copy of this album has the title "Sgs. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" on the spine of the gatefold sleeve. Is this a misprint, or a rarity, and should I be excited?
