bill mann 23rd Jan 2013		78 RPM Sonny Burgess - Red Headed Woman / We Wanna Boogie	Sonny is one of the all time great rock 'n' roll singers, and this is truly a thing of beauty. I have two different pressings of the 45, but wish I had a copy of the 78.

Haven't heard it in many a year but I well remember the steel guitar sound on 'Waterwheel' after nigh on 60 years. 'The old miller seems to be lost in his dreams', me too sometimes.

Apparently Marty Wilde asked Philips to issue this over here after hearing it in New York, so '56 would seem a little early. Whatever, this is certainly a thing of beauty .
bill mann 10th Jan 2013		78 RPM Elvis Presley - One Night / I Got Stung	Strawberry - 'One night' is a version of Smiley Lewis's song issued in UK on London HLU 8312 in 1956. Elvis's version is a considerably cleaned up version of Smiley's who had 'One night of sin is what I'm now paying for', not exactly pc in 1959 for Elvis, who had enough grief with his hips earlier in his career, Parker would have, I'm sure, put the kybosh on the original lyric to keep 'His boy' sweet with the authorities.
bill mann 10th Jan 2013		78 RPM Elvis Presley - Baby Let's Play House / I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone	bobz - These scans don't look like the same disc to me either, type settings are different, gaps between song title words on one side, no gaps on t'other, plus the obvious colour shades are a mile apart. Also heavy ring wear one, none on the other. I've never heard of a vinyl 78 on Sun before but it's not impossible I suppose.
