deepinder cheema 2nd May 2015 | | Live MusicPink Floyd @ Queen Elizabeth Hall | Did Syd use a Stratocaster for this event or was it a guitar which he used just for the sound check?
deepinder cheema 29th Apr 2015 | | Live MusicJohnny Gentle And His Group (Silver Beetles) @ Regal Ballroom | these foto's are always interesting kab not just for the specific reason for which it has been posted. There is always a bit of other social history too to the trained eye.
deepinder cheema 29th Apr 2015 | | Live MusicSteppenwolf @ Mothers | Just opp Church Rd and St Barnabas CofE. The 'Out Demons Out! graffiti can still be seen at the left side of the building. It is faint now and you need to know where to look.
deepinder cheema 29th Apr 2015 | | Live MusicJohnny Gentle And His Group (Silver Beetles) @ Regal Ballroom | If this is a recent foto - then it is interesting Safeway are still about in the UK.
deepinder cheema 28th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Winter - Guitar Slinger | Interesting information. So Alligator have been asked and they have refused. Is it possible that they can be sued and have no case to answer? If so how much will it cost to file a case.
deepinder cheema 25th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band | I did not kno that!
I have a funny story, at Wintertons auction in Lich some wag had removed the inner sleeve and swapped it with Harry Secombe LP. This was done to put off any potential bidding dealer or collector, so I swapped it back especially as I was not going to bid. Mint fresh ones are highly prized as these often go missing even on nice copies

deepinder cheema 24th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath | Nice to see this classic BS LP on a Vertigo label albeit from a non UK territory
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumDon Van Vliet And The Magic Band - Rough, Raw And Amazing | Is this a bootleg? I seem to recall that the previous release raised a few eyebrows, I wonder if the sound is as awful as the title seems to suggest otherwise
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Kinks - Sunny Afternoon | Thanks for jogging my memories. Here is an interesting discovery leading on from looking at the strange but interesting Godfrey Townsend website. The psychedelic AC Cobra of Tara Browne who I remember reading about first in the Amanda Lear book on Salvador Dali

sadly repainted.

deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn | Interesting information 78rpm. Beatles and Pink Floyd were pressed as Parlophone and Columbia in India which can be seen as singles on 45cat. Japan I notice in Odeon. Japan fascinates me. It is or was the 2nd largest market for discs historically yet it must rank low on foreign language comprehension as they have issued as Japanese pressings from all over the world and are very knowledgable in collecting original pressings from country of origin.

deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Kinks - Sunny Afternoon | The Buick is painted by an art team who painted Macca's piano. I can't think of their name.
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumKing Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King | Is there any research done about the difference in the matrix and what it all means, Has Fripp said anything about the production aspect of this LP? The A1/B1 price hike has been with us for a few years now. The observation about the beginning of 21st Schizoid man as a banded track is something I was not aware of. I do know that the reason why there were sub sections of songs was a naive belief by Fripp or his managers that they could get more royalties from publishing.
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumSpooky Tooth With Pierre Henry - Ceremony | I'm not at all sure why this LP is regularly derided. I think it a superb sonic experience and quite un like anything before or since. I think it has 'gravitas' and is a really heavy LP. It captures the feeling of 1969 into 1970 perfectly.
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Please Please Me | I have noticed a difference between Stereo and Mono. The cat no for Gold Stereo is PCS 3042. It looks like EMI set up a new sequence starting with PCS 3000 which if true indicates that there are only about 42 releases of this most desirable of all labels. I have never noticed this before.

deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumMagma - Köhntarkösz | As seen in Doyles flat in an episode of The Professionals!
Here's the evidence ( scroll down)

deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumJames Burton - James Burton | When the BBC made a radio series about great guitar players in the early 1980's - a genre which has been done to death in recent years - they decided to include Mr Burton. The BBC published an excellent book which is a transcript of the radio interviews and showed this LP signed for the interviewer - I think it was John Tobler. He proudly printed the photo of this album saying that he was kind of forced to make it as he was uncomfortable otherrthan being a session man and Elvis's band member
deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBread, Love And Dreams - Amaryllis | Yes indeed if memory serves Human Beast is SKL 5011. The burning question is that Human Beast has a peep hole die cut which means has anyone seen LK 5011, that is does the mono pressing exist? Seeing the existance of SDN 18 previously unissued but at least as demonstration test copy there is every chance.
deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBeggars Opera - Pathfinder | Sadly this is one of my many Vertigo LP's with no cover. I used to find lots of Vertigo discs but no cover. I think wholesalers in the 1970's were sent lots of over production by Philips/ Phonagram.
deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBeggars Opera - Beggars Opera Act One | I agree. Keef ( Keith McMillian) was the master at finding a location and taking enigmatic photo's of the Vertigo band. His design and post processing skills were top notch. No wonder Hipgnosis did not get a look in but I suppose they were kept busy at Harvest.
deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFocus - In And Out Of Focus | I noticed the printers dots designed by Berney and Wade when I was waving the LP cover and noticed the word FOC..reveal itself. A brilliant cover and of course executed to bring out the brief to think of focus and optical relations to it; although I think Thijs chose the name for more metaphysical reasons.
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFocus - Moving Waves | It took RCPG 20 years to work this out, but done in a flash on 45worlds. I asked about the photo on the back and the band member reckoned it was Leeds University. The Dutch equivalent Focus II has a different b&w photo of the same gig.
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBen - Ben | I have only just realised the lack of Vertigo identifier on the sleeve. I know virtually nothing of this band save that there is a connection with Keith Jarrett and that is only hearsay.
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumClimax Chicago Blues Band - Climax Chicago Blues Band | The notes here are excellent
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumJan Akkerman - Profile | The A side is still amazing after all these years. This LP used to be seen all over the place. The marketing people timed its release with impeccable timing
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThird Ear Band - Music From Macbeth | I wonder if the boy singing on the disc is Keith Chegwin. Whoever he is being Fleance he needs to be counted as it is a superb performance.

deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy And The Juniors - Buddy And The Juniors | Shame we cannae see the LP sleeve. It is an appalling creation and all the more compelling because of the craft skill of the designer
deepinder cheema 21st Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumMichael Chapman - Rainmaker | Norman Haines is alive and well living in Birmingham, Alex Dmo is in North London
deepinder cheema 20th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFocus - Moving Waves | it does get confusing but a genuine Blue Horizon pressing has this label ( marketed by Polydor) when Blue H was a legal entity and a sleeve with BH on the back. Still what a classic album. The one LP which defined Progressive music which is a different genré to Prog rock
deepinder cheema 20th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Electric Light Orchestra - The Electric Light Orchestra | This was one of Storm Thorgersons favourite covers. Not sure exactly why but that is what he said.
deepinder cheema 20th Apr 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Vertigo Annual 1970 | Yeah I remember that the UK public were being trained up to use the new Decimal currency so items were labelled in decimal before Feb 1971 / D Day. I bought my copy in 1979 or 1980 in Cyclops, Birmingham. It was new old stock but had some wear and tear - I'm sure it went in and out of the racks. I paid the cover price - £2.50 and still feel cheated that I paid the 'rounded up' price!
