I have a funny story, at Wintertons auction in Lich some wag had removed the inner sleeve and swapped it with Harry Secombe LP. This was done to put off any potential bidding dealer or collector, so I swapped it back especially as I was not going to bid. Mint fresh ones are highly prized as these often go missing even on nice copies

Here is an interesting discovery leading on from looking at the strange but interesting Godfrey Townsend website. The psychedelic AC Cobra of Tara Browne who I remember reading about first in the Amanda Lear book on Salvador Dali http://www.coys.co.uk/auction.php?itemID=3173 sadly repainted.

Beatles and Pink Floyd were pressed as Parlophone and Columbia in India which can be seen as singles on 45cat. Japan I notice in Odeon. Japan fascinates me. It is or was the 2nd largest market for discs historically yet it must rank low on foreign language comprehension as they have issued as Japanese pressings from all over the world and are very knowledgable in collecting original pressings from country of origin.

deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015		Vinyl Album King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King	Is there any research done about the difference in the matrix and what it all means, Has Fripp said anything about the production aspect of this LP? The A1/B1 price hike has been with us for a few years now. The observation about the beginning of 21st Schizoid man as a banded track is something I was not aware of. I do know that the reason why there were sub sections of songs was a naive belief by Fripp or his managers that they could get more royalties from publishing.
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015		Vinyl Album Spooky Tooth With Pierre Henry - Ceremony	I'm not at all sure why this LP is regularly derided. I think it a superb sonic experience and quite un like anything before or since. I think it has 'gravitas' and is a really heavy LP. It captures the feeling of 1969 into 1970 perfectly.
deepinder cheema 23rd Apr 2015		Vinyl Album The Beatles - Please Please Me	I have noticed a difference between Stereo and Mono. The cat no for Gold Stereo is PCS 3042. It looks like EMI set up a new sequence starting with PCS 3000 which if true indicates that there are only about 42 releases of this most desirable of all labels. I have never noticed this before.

deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015		Vinyl Album James Burton - James Burton	When the BBC made a radio series about great guitar players in the early 1980's - a genre which has been done to death in recent years - they decided to include Mr Burton. The BBC published an excellent book which is a transcript of the radio interviews and showed this LP signed for the interviewer - I think it was John Tobler. He proudly printed the photo of this album saying that he was kind of forced to make it as he was uncomfortable otherrthan being a session man and Elvis's band member

The burning question is that Human Beast has a peep hole die cut which means has anyone seen LK 5011, that is does the mono pressing exist? Seeing the existance of SDN 18 previously unissued but at least as demonstration test copy there is every chance.

Keef ( Keith McMillian) was the master at finding a location and taking enigmatic photo's of the Vertigo band. His design and post processing skills were top notch. No wonder Hipgnosis did not get a look in but I suppose they were kept busy at Harvest.
deepinder cheema 22nd Apr 2015		Vinyl Album Focus - In And Out Of Focus	I noticed the printers dots designed by Berney and Wade when I was waving the LP cover and noticed the word FOC..reveal itself. A brilliant cover and of course executed to bring out the brief to think of focus and optical relations to it; although I think Thijs chose the name for more metaphysical reasons.

I asked about the photo on the back and the band member reckoned it was Leeds University. The Dutch equivalent Focus II has a different b&w photo of the same gig.

Still what a classic album. The one LP which defined Progressive music which is a different genré to Prog rock

deepinder cheema 20th Apr 2015		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Vertigo Annual 1970	Yeah I remember that the UK public were being trained up to use the new Decimal currency so items were labelled in decimal before Feb 1971 / D Day. I bought my copy in 1979 or 1980 in Cyclops, Birmingham. It was new old stock but had some wear and tear - I'm sure it went in and out of the racks. I paid the cover price - £2.50 and still feel cheated that I paid the 'rounded up' price!
