George Slv ● 20th Jun 2018 | | 78 RPMSons Of The Pioneers - Cool Water / Stars And Stripes On Iwo Jima | A first recording on RCA before the rerecording in 1947? When was this recorded?
How can you be sure you are using the right videos for each? You can't use the same one for the Decca recording.

George Slv ● 10th Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumLarry Williams - Here's Larry Williams | RocknRollArchivist: This LP version of Lizzie at 2:09 is not the single version which is 2:25. See the Canadian single for an audio link. The single ends with "be your lover man" while the album ends "wanna marry you". Are reissues using the album version?

George Slv ● 29th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Western - 20 Great Classics And Legends | His birth name was Johnny Westerlund, from Minnesota. He was first known as the writer and singer of the Ballad Of Paladin. Otherwise his further writing and recording were known to those who knew Country music. An impressive baritone, but not perfect enough to be a star singer. As a young man he had handsome looks.
You can order an autographed CD from his site.

George Slv ● 1st Apr 2018 | | DVDTwist All Night - Delta Music GMBH | The movie clips are at an amateur collector quality level. Includes Don't Knock the Twist. The concert is better quality.
On retail pages it is designated as a DVD-Audio disc, but this is incorrect. It is a standard DVD.
Not to be confused with the 1961 movie with Louis Prima.

George Slv ● 24th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumLina Margy - Chansons De Nos 20 Ans, Vol.5 | Who knows more about this? There was material like this released in the early 1950s, and also in the early 1960s. This looks like a reissue, the Collection Chouettes series, or Serie Grande Diffusion. See Paris Je T'Aime at Discogs.
And what's the idea of the title Chansons De Nos 20 Ans?
Some of these songs on Youtube.

George Slv ● 10th Mar 2018 | | CinemaКнязь Игорь (Prince Igor ) (1971) | It seems that the correct phonetic pronunciation is Ihor. That's the Ukrainian pronunciation, and the title credit seems to use the same letter. Prince Ihor was of the Norsemen who established Kiev (Kyiv) in Ukraine, and has become part of "Ukrainian" history.

Mademoiselle De Paris from Jean Florenzano.
My definitive vocal of this song but why is it so overlooked? What year did she record it?

George Slv ● 27th Feb 2018 | | TVDon't Knock The Rock (1977) | I see comments on the web that seem to say that this compilation was first shown on September 30, 1964 titled Whole Lotta Shakin. Such as a comment 5 years ago on YouTube. This would mean the Lewis and Richard shows from early 1964 were recompiled already that year and Lewis's title was reused, and then it was rebroadcast in 1977 with new title. I don't have confirmation of this. See a discussion at missingepisodes.com.

George Slv ● 24th Feb 2018 | | CinemaAt War With The Army (1951) | Martin and Lewis produced it with their own company so it was not Paramount. That's why it lapsed into public domain.

George Slv ● 6th Feb 2018 | | TVCountry Hoedown (1956 - 1965) | A staple of early Canadian TV, broadcast live from Toronto. There was a separate US show of that name at the time in Nashville. Gordie Tapp was from London Ontario. He later starred in Hee Haw in US.

George Slv ● 18th Jan 2018 | | CinemaThe Solid Gold Cadillac (1956) | Rated 2/10When I was young at the time I decided to see this based on the comedy designation and the intriguing idea of the title. The result was no comedy and no interest. I suppose you need to be interested in business to begin with. It's based on a stage play so that's how it runs. It's more a drama about business with supposedly humorous situations created.
Reviews elsewhere are so glowing I can't believe it.

George Slv ● 10th Jan 2018 | | TVThe Jimmy Dean Show (1963 - 1966) | Confirmed that the featured title, #828818, corresponds to the restored shows now available.
Notice that they are being broadcast on the RFD network in US, but streaming is also available to any nation.

George Slv ● 10th Jan 2018 | | DVDThe Jimmy Dean Show - Season 1 Volume 1 | All available episodes of the 3 seasons have been restored now. They are airing on the RFD network in US. It's also possible to buy streaming in any country.
So far I only see Vol.1 of Season 1 offered for sale, at https://www.thejimmydeanshow.com/purchase. But someone has been able to purchase Vol.2 by phoning, so you might be able to get more.
Vol.2 contains the Teresa Brewer episode. It has some audio damage so was not included in RFD airings.

George Slv ● 3rd Jan 2018 | | 78 RPMTeresa Brewer - The Thing / I Guess I'll Have To Dream The Rest | On one CD The Thing in the UK version was shorter by one verse, leaving out St.Peter. Can anyone check if that applied to the 78?
There are a couple on ebay now.

George Slv ● 2nd Nov 2017 | | TVToast Of The Town (1948 - 1971) | Shows are being aired now on the US Decades channel. They are cut to 30 minutes, favoring music acts. http://www.decades.com/schedule/ Anyone have a mind to record them?
And to add this comment, for all the hype about Sullivan being stiff, you should see in the earliest episodes how the opening had him running in from the side hopping down stairs past dancers. See an example at https://archive.org/details/toast-of-the-town-s-02-e-21-divx .

George Slv ● 30th Aug 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - The Sun Sessions | Now understanding how the 2004 Elvis At Sun was made, these previous reissues did not use Sun's original masters, but RCA reprocessed masters based on the Sun masters. Or were they based on Sun unprocessed tapes.
Sun applied its echo during live recording so RCA had that for sure.
Anyway this LP sounds like garbage.

George Slv ● 11th Aug 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Shadows - The Shadows' Greatest Hits | There is a legend that Hank Marvin once played one wrong note somewhere back here. I take issue with the way the Shadows start Apache. There's a starting note that's a little out of place.

George Slv ● 9th Aug 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Who's Happy Now? | The title should be Who's Happy Now.
Can someone say how many tracks are disco? I read only Where The Boys Are, but now have the UK single and see that A-Ba-Ni-Bi is too.
Where was a 2:25 version released?
Wasn't a 12" issued anywhere else besides Australia? Japan had an issue.

|
George Slv ● 7th Jul 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumPat Boone - Pat's Great Hits Vol. 2 | Not every song on here was rerecorded for stereo in 1959. They started stereo in late 1957 and already had some. From my tests April Love is the same recording as the single, and so is If Dreams Came True. But not Gee But It's Lonely, and the For My Good Fortune arrangement sounds very different.
They must have rerecorded early songs like Two Hearts.
