OldMod67 28th Sep 2020 | | TVThe Saturday Banana (1978 - 1979) | Apologies for the p-poor quality of the photo (Kindle). I found my 1978 ticket squirrelled away inside my (also thought lost) 70s copy of The Incredible Journey paperback.

OldMod67 28th Sep 2020 | | Live MusicThe Truth @ Bournemouth Pavilion | Found my ticket (still on Covid furlough, going through old stuff). Apologies for photo quality (Kindle) but at least it's up!
We were also given free 'Sounds' patches (as they promoted the tour). All these years later it's still in its wrap, so you can see how keen I was to wear it!

OldMod67 26th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Mods Mayday '79 | @JohnnyCool, thanks. There seem to be a few mismatches and variants. The Dojo reissue was mentioned in one of the Modzines at the time but it seemed a bit 'unofficial' all the same and as I mentioned I gave it away to a kid in the late 80s. I need to check my son's copy, but I think it was a BHLP with correct 'numbers'

OldMod67 22nd Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumMarc Bolan And T. Rex - Bolan's Zip Gun | Belatedly added the bonus disc. 12" single at 45 rpm. Credited artist is Marc Bolan, although the Marc Bolan & T.Rex logo appears also.
I bought this in the mid eighties in a shop near Soho market and for years presumed I'd been given the wrong bonus disc from the shop's masterbag; this was because the 12" label states ' Issued free with Futuristic Dragon'. That album had a 506 cat.no.and upon closer inspection of the Zip Gun run out, I note the following:
MARC L 506 A1 and B1, but the 6 is scratched out and replaced with a 7!
Other run out detail
A: BILBO TAPE ONe DAMONT MT *1
B: BILBO TAPE ONe DAMONT MT *1
PLUS:
12"
A: BILBO TAPE ONe MARC L - 507 - A1 F
B: BILBO TAPE ONe MARC L - 507 - B1 F
Gatefold sleeve with lyrics.

OldMod67 17th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Mods Mayday '79 | A recent Squire newsletter had me digging out scrapbooks (again) The September 1979 release date above is related to a later pressing. Antony Meynell says the album was rush released by Arista on June 29th to tie in with the March Of The Mods tour. The first pressing was on the b&w label, red print and the BHLP003 cat no. I've a small cutting (which unfortunately I didn't date) stating the Nunbers misprint being sought after already, the initial batch of 2000 copies.
The album was reviewed in NME in the August 4th edition. I do have a Four001 pressing on b&w labels, from when Arista picked up distribution, so that I think must be pressing #2. I'm unsure if any BHLP were overstickered with the new cat.no, my Four1 sticker is on the corresponding album. I did give two copies away, one BHLP b&w label, to my son, unsure when and where that came from;the other was a mid eighties reissue on Castle or Dojo that was slightly off centre and I gave to a local kid just getting into revival era bands. So, may have to create a new entry and ask for images moved, unless any kind soul has additional info?

Presumably because it dealt with outdated label info, but unfortunately this left readers half way through a sentence....

|
OldMod67 18th Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Playn Jayn - Five Good Evils | Tracklisting from rear sleeve as anomalies on label:
A3 as Sixty Seconds
A4 as Why's Your Kind So Blind
B2 as Silk & Satin
B4 as Juliett
B6 as Having A Good Time, with track
B7(!) as Ain't No Crime
Also, I don't think this is the same ABC label that was running in 1978, but the Gun Club entry is already listed here too.

OldMod67 16th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumThe Originals - The Essential Collection | Just been and changed a few ratings. I bought this not too long after it came out (Essential Music, Bournemouth) and quite honestly it's one of the greatest 'Best Of' CDs I've ever bought.

|
OldMod67 31st Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Uppers On The South Downs | I've seen this listed as a 1981 release, but I've entered 1984 as it's in an old Music Master as June '84; I'm pretty sure that's when I got it (I only needed it for Teenage Beat!)
Further details:
Produced by Ray Fenwick and engineered by Tony Bird, except B1, B2, B3 produced by Andy Arthurs and engineered by Roger T. Wake

OldMod67 31st Jul 2020 | | 12" SingleThe Truth - No Stone Unturned | Just spotted this. FYI the images are the two sleeve options, not front and back of the same sleeve (unless that is another variant!)
|
OldMod67 28th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumAnthony Meynell And Squire - September Gurls | Please note, I've entered this as an LP, not a 12" single, despite its playing speed.
This along with the Hi-Lo release Beat Direction - Long Distance Beat were described and reviewed as 'mini albums' on release. Obviously this can be changed if 12" single is preferred media.
The rear of sleeve lists 'Also available in mono (HIM 005)'' Unfortunately, this is not the case. I only saw the stereo at the time of release. Anthony Meynell confirmed last year that the mono never made it to release.
|
OldMod67 25th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumTelevision Personalities - Chocolat-Art | Incidentally, my copy has the same label and run out info, but the label has a white background.
My insert is different also, having the necessary text, but no pix!
This copy was an import, purchased in the UK in '85

OldMod67 25th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBangles - Everything | Got mine on release (no poster though!) but it does have a label typo on A6: listed as Be With Me
|
OldMod67 22nd Jul 2020 | | 12" SingleAdult Net - Waking Up In The Sun | My copy's still sealed since I got it, the numbered sticker (0266) is centre, top of pvc sleeve. The disc is accompanied by a large, fold-out poster (the sleeve design I think)
|
OldMod67 22nd Jul 2020 | | 12" SingleAdult Net - Where Were You | I was given a copy of this by the record rep at the time. It's in a Fontana company die-cut sleeve, listing contemporary artists alongside The Adult Net and states 'the story so far...'
It's not marked as a promo and has the same label design featured above. There is a small cat.no. rear, top right of sleeve :SOFB 12 Any ideas?
