Bamboo 17th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMAnton Hermann Winter - German Speech Sounds (1st Record) / German Speech Sounds (2nd Record) (1932) | I wonder why the 'A' and 'B' side labels differ in colour - particularly the gramophone image itself ?
|
Bamboo 14th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMWarings Pennsylvanians - Oh, Baby! (Don't Say No, Say Maybe) / There's No One Just Like You (1924) | Interestingly, unlike Victor record labels on this site for the respective artists, this HMV label shows the band name 'Warings Pennsylvanians' without an apostrophe for 'Warings' and 'Night Hawk' as two separate words - not hyphenated nor depicted as one word'.
|
Bamboo 8th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMHarry Hudson's Melody Men - Sleepy Valley / Tell Me, Mother (1929) | 'A' and 'B' Side Label Variations Added.

Side 'B' for example: Different Spacing For Composer Names. Also, Song Title Larger.
|
Bamboo 5th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMHarry Hudson's Melody Men - It Goes Like This / I'm Crazy Over You (1929) | 'A' and 'B' side label variations added.
Font differences on both sides.
I am particularly intrigued by the way in which the letter 'x' is depicted on 'It Goes Like This' - 'Novelty Fox Trot'
Also, the lack of a 'label printed tax stamp' on 'I'm Crazy Over You'.
|
Bamboo 4th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMBilly Elliott - Sonny Boy / Shout Hallelujah (1929) | 'A' and 'B' Side Label Variations added.
Difference, for example, in the position of the words 'America's Black-Faced' Star'.
|

|
Bamboo 13th Oct 2019 | | 78 RPMKathlyn Hilliard - Indian Love Call / Rose-Marie (1925) | I was just about to play this record when I noticed that the 'A' Side label has writing etched into it. The writing almost seemed to be beneath the label and just 'shows through'.
I think that it was written at the production factory as it is 'so neat'. Maybe before the label was affixed ? Maybe just afterwards. I could be wrong though.
The writing seems to' say', as it progresses down the label:
CC5999
7 April 25
Z 13
2-7-24
INDIAN LOVE CALL
MISS HILLIARD
/ORCH.
'CC5999(1) is indeed the number etched into the 'run out'.
I wonder if anyone can help to clarify when it may have been written, why it was written and some of it's meaning ? Would every record in this issue / batch have had this ? The 'B' side has no writing at all incidentally.
I know that some 'Jumbo' label 'Billy Williams' records have his signature etched into them but this seems different maybe ?
I am thinking that maybe the song was released on 7th April 1925 and recorded 2nd July 1924 ? However, the HMV dating software says the release date was 'May 1925' - at least for the British version. So maybe different in India ?
Thank you for any help / advice you can give.

Bamboo 12th Aug 2019 | | 78 RPMRegimental Band Of H.M. Grenadier Guards - The Parade Of The Tin Soldiers / The Burial Of Cock Robin (1915) | Very good.
I understand completely now. Thank you for explaining everything.
|
Bamboo 12th Aug 2019 | | 78 RPMRegimental Band Of H.M. Grenadier Guards - The Parade Of The Tin Soldiers / The Burial Of Cock Robin (1915) | Very interesting indeed !
I wonder why the extra 'W' instead of just AX1323/4 ?
Also, would the 'R' normally mean a re-issue I wonder ?
Thank you for any clarification you can give.

Bamboo 12th Aug 2019 | | 78 RPMRegimental Band Of H.M. Grenadier Guards - The Parade Of The Tin Soldiers / The Burial Of Cock Robin (1915) | Variations of 'A' and 'B' sides added.
Different Master Recording reference numbers and '(Conducted By Lieut. Geo. Miller)'
|
Bamboo 12th Aug 2019 | | 78 RPMEdna Thornton, George Baker - With Ducal Pomp / On The Day When I Was Wedded (1920) | Two different styles of label.
|
Bamboo 10th Aug 2019 | | 78 RPMCathie's Band - Old Scotch Songs / Give Yourself A Pat On The Back (1930) | 'B' Side Variant Label added.
I thought it was interesting when compared to the existing 'B' side as it shows through misalignment that the label printing process was completed with at least two separate stages.
|
Bamboo 30th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMJack Gordon - Goodnight, Sweetheart / You Are My Heart's Delight (1931) | 'A' And 'B' Side Variants uploaded - interestingly making no DIRECT mention that the record is an electric Recording'
|
Bamboo 28th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMDomenico Possetti - Beautiful Danube / Wine, Women and Song (1930) | I forgot to thank you, xiphophilos, for your advice which is most useful.
|
Bamboo 24th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMVienna Philharmonic Orchestra - Perpetuum Mobile / Annen Polka (1931) | 'B' Side Label Variant: Blue 'His Master's Voice The Gramophone Company' 'Stamp' Attached.
|
Bamboo 17th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMJoan Regan - If I Give My Heart To You / Faded Flowers (1954) | Side 'A' Variant added. The Word 'accompaniment' does not begin with a capital 'A'.
On Side 'B' of my record this word does begin with a capital 'A', and also does with the previously up-loaded labels, so I presume this was an error which was later corrected.

Bamboo 11th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMBilly Williams - I Wish I Were A Ladies Man / My Girl From Glasgie Toon (1911) | Brilliant ! Thank you.
|
Bamboo 10th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMMr. Peter Dawson - Glorious Devon / Young Tom O' Devon (1911) | Oh, I see.

|
Bamboo 10th Jul 2019 | | 78 RPMBilly Williams - I Wish I Were A Ladies Man / My Girl From Glasgie Toon (1911) | Oh, I see. Sorry about that.
I have just had a look but I can't see stamped the words 'Cat No ...', I can see something that looks like' made for Fonotipia Companies' - no idea what that means though.
Thank you for you help.
