LaurenceD SUBS 5th Jun 2022 | | 78 RPMMari Jones - There Is No Greater Love / Drifting Blues (1953) | Added new images with respect to han enderman
And flipped sides based on Billboard Feb 29 ad
LaurenceD SUBS 30th May 2022 | | 78 RPMJimmy Dodd And Ruth Carrell - Think Of The Fun / I Never Will Forget You (1946) | Estimating release date as 1946 until we have more definite information.
The same participants were involved in a release of two different tracks on Enterprise 225/226, ca. Nov 1946; that release has matrix nos. SH 1085 & SH 1084, so these sides could have originated at the same session.
LaurenceD SUBS 29th May 2022 | | 78 RPMFelix Figueroa - Pico And Sepulveda (The Street Song) / She Of The Black Coffee Eyes (1946) | Felix Chevrolet (on Figueroa St.) celebrated its 100th year in 2021.
LaurenceD SUBS 16th May 2022 | | 78 RPMBenny Goodman Sextet - Boy Meets Goy (逢びき) / Original Boogie Woogie (オリジナル・ブーギー・ウーギー) | Recordings from 1939 & 1940. Given the situation in Japan (and "Nippon Columbia Co, Ltd." on the labels), I reckon that this was probably released after the war.
Interesting that each label has a tempo indication.
Also, "Boy Meets Goy" understandably did not easily translate to Japanese; "逢びき" roughly translates to "meeting" or "encounter". As it turns out, 逢びき was the title for the Japanese release of the 1945 film "Brief Encounter".
LaurenceD SUBS 16th May 2022 | | 78 RPMThe Drifters - White Christmas / The Bells Of St. Mary's (1954) | I added clearer scans (with respect to coveboy), and flipped the side order; I'm pretty sure that "White Christmas" was the intended a-side.
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Mar 2022 | | 78 RPMHoward Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars - Who's Sleepy / Mad At The World (1955) | 1955 release date estimated. These tracks were also released on Contemporary LP C3504 "Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars Vol. 6" (Cash Box review July 23, 1955)
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Mar 2022 | | 78 RPMRichard B. Gilbert And His Uke - If I Can Find The Kind Of Girl I Dream About / How I Love Her And She Loves Me Is Nobody's Business (1926) | Lyricist Ruth Wimp misspelled as "Winp" on label.

LaurenceD SUBS 8th Mar 2022 | | 78 RPMBenny Goodman Sextet - Benny Goodman Sextet Session (1946) | Added scans from disc 36924 with personnel credits. My copy of the album is identical to the existing images in this posting, except for that disc.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Mar 2022 | | 78 RPMTex Beneke - Stormy Weather / Stormy Weather (1948) | I have adjusted the release date for this one, from 1945 to 1948. It was not listed among the first batch of Coin Operators releases in the 1945 Billboard advert, but was mentioned in a Billboard ad from June 26, 1948. Which makes sense, as the original single release of Stormy Weather (20-2374) did not appear until around September of 1947.

LaurenceD SUBS 4th Feb 2022 | | 78 RPMSmilin' Ed McConnell - The Backwards Song / Me And I (1947) | Issued with a pic sleeve
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Dec 2021 | | 78 RPMDeanna Durbin - One Fine Day / Spring In My Heart (1939) | Hello Labalius,
The song uses themes from three different waltzes of Johann Strauss II: "Treasure Waltz", "Roses From The South" and "Lagoon Waltz", in that order. I reckon that most listeners would recognize the second theme.
LaurenceD SUBS 18th Dec 2021 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - Western Roundup (1949) | I only have the cover for this album (it contained some Harry James singles), so I did the best I could entering the info for the 6 sides. I have not found any scans of the labels as yet; the details might not be 100% correct.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Dec 2021 | | 78 RPMPaul Whiteman - A Tabloid Version Of As Thousands Cheer / A Tabloid Version Of "Let 'em Eat Cake" (1933) | Hi dewey70, it was recorded at Studio 2 in New York and plays at 78 rpm. It's the second picture disc release by Whiteman, the previous being Victor 39000 from 1932.

LaurenceD SUBS 28th Nov 2021 | | 78 RPM美ち奴 (Michiyakko) - 富士のお山で / 十五夜ぶし (1953) | Release date is tentative; I have conflicting information, some sites stating 1951, others 1953.
LaurenceD SUBS 17th Nov 2021 | | 78 RPMEvelyn Knight With Ray Charles Singers - Cherry Stones / All Dressed Up To Smile (1950) | "Cherry Stones" was the designated a-side, but "All Dressed Up To Smile" seems to have garnered most of the attention (Billboard Picks, Disk Jockeys Pick, etc.)
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Nov 2021 | | 78 RPMRubio y Martinez - Hermosas Fuentes / Las Cuatro Milpas (1927) | Thank you, xiphophilos. I have a couple of these in the 2700 range which I have been unable to date as yet. Will post them momentarily...

LaurenceD SUBS 6th Nov 2021 | | 78 RPMRay Noble And His New Mayfair Orchestra - In The Bushes At The Bottom Of The Garden / She Was Poor But She Was Honest | I went back and listened to this record again, was able to identify the performers, and so have changed the artist fields so that they are now linked correctly. These tracks are apparently pirated recordings from the following releases:
A: His Master's Voice B 6154 / c.1932
B: Enterprise 261 / c.1947
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Oct 2021 | | 78 RPMDick Edwards - Peter Cottontail / Teddy Bear Polka | Added an alternate b-side label. The a-side on this copy is the same as Diognes' { 820241 }
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Oct 2021 | | 78 RPMThe Tops Choraleers - Christmas Song Favorites | These tracks, and most of the label design, were recycled from earlier releases on the Voco label.
This one is probably from around 1952 or a bit later.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Sep 2021 | | 78 RPMThe Charioteers - Sweet and Low (1947) | I only possess this damaged cover, no discs, so... label scans are welcomed.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Sep 2021 | | 78 RPMWoody Herman - Blues On Parade: The Band That Plays The Blues (1940) | Hello fixbutte, I also have a copy of this album. Shall I fill in the missing label scans?
LaurenceD SUBS 29th Aug 2021 | | 78 RPMHot Lips Page - Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You / The Lady In Bed (1945) | Here's the b-side, xiphophilos. Little difference if any, I think.
LaurenceD SUBS 28th Aug 2021 | | 78 RPMHot Lips Page - Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You / The Lady In Bed (1945) | Added an alternate a-side label. The personnel credits are missing one line on this one and for image 2229393 as well.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Aug 2021 | | 78 RPMHit Of The Week Orchestra - Crying Myself To Sleep (1931) | Apparently there are two takes of this track; based on the runout my copy seems to have take A.
I listened to both takes at http://pdx78s.cdbpdx.com/HOTW/index1.html and they are nearly identical; very hard to differentiate between the two.
LaurenceD SUBS 7th Aug 2021 | | 78 RPMAl Dexter And His Troopers - Saturday Night Boogie (サタデイ・ナイト・ブギー) / 88 Boogie (八十八ブギー) (1950) | An interesting pairing of artists... well I suppose that both songs fit the description of "American Folk Music Instrumental".
I estimated the release date at 1950 based on surrounding issues, but it could be as late as 1951.
LaurenceD SUBS 29th Jul 2021 | | 78 RPMTommy Tucker Time - Deep In The Heart Of Texas / Tangerine (1942) | This rendition of "Deep In The Heart Of Texas" has a verse that I had not heard before:
- The Indians used to howl with fright, and raise heck every night (clap, refrain)
- The covered wagons rolled along, and hoof beats sang a song (", ")
- Now the Indian arrows used to fly, like raindrops from the sky (", ")
- The cowboy raised his gun and cussed, the redskins bit the dust (", ")

LaurenceD SUBS 17th Jul 2021 | | 78 RPMBenny Goodman - Let's Dance (Theme Song) / Boy Meets Horn (1939) | Added b-side variant scan (2699872) and paired it with Diognes' (411844).
