fantasista 14th Sep 2021		Dragging up an old conversation here, but the one with the thumping drum and men's choir is on my copy with matrix no. ORA 4198, and you can hear it in this video of the record playing as well, so I think that was actually the original 1939 recording. I think the propaganda version you referenced, @Juke Jules, that the regime ordered Andersen to record in 1942, was the version with English lyrics that xiphophilos posted. As for the other German recording you posted, Juke Jules, possibly a post-war re-recording? This isn't the one you posted, but another version Andersen recorded in 1954:

There is a bit of an accordion in the first version too, but the accordion is much more pronounced and there's a soldiers' choir in the 1942 version. I must have clicked on the same video twice. Probably was late again ...

They are two completely different versions, in different keys, the 1939 version sentimentally populist, the 1942 version jingoistic with 'soldier chorus' and accordeon The English version was recorded in Germany. xiphophilos 18th Jun 2016		I can't hear a difference between your two German versions. Below, however, is a 1942 version that Lale Andersen sang in English. I assume that's the propaganda version you meant:
