23skidoo 11th Apr 2015		CD Album Robin Meade - Count On Me (2013)	Robin Meade was Miss Ohio and a Miss America semi-finalist but is better known these days as the morning anchor on the HLN cable news channel run by CNN.
23skidoo 10th Apr 2015		CD Album Johnny Cash - From Memphis To Hollywood: Bootleg Vol. II (2011)	Thunderball is just bizarre. Apparently Cash wanted a shot at doing a James Bond movie theme so submitted a fully produced track which sounded more appropriate for a Clint Eastwood western movie. There is no indication that EON Productions took the submission seriously as they originally planned to use a Dionne Warwick song called Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as the theme and only decided on using a song actually titled Thunderball, performed by Tom Jones, late in the day. "Five Minutes to Live" is another unsuccessful attempt at Cash doing a movie theme song, this time for a film he actually starred in, while "Johnny Yuma Theme" is a completely different song than "The Rebel - Johnny Yuma". Incidentally, anyone investing in the massive 63-disc Complete Columbia Collection set should know this collection features a number of tracks that do not appear in the big box, like Thunderball and Five Minutes to Live, along with the early radio show.
23skidoo 2nd Apr 2015		CD Album Bill Haley's Comets Featuring Al Rappa And Joey Welz - Rock And Roll Survivors	When indexing, I neglected to note that Track 20 also features Comets drummer Dave Holly. Originally thought to have been recorded in the mid-1960s it now appears to be of later vintage. Track 16, an instrumental, appears to be an alternate take to the version released on a single for Music City Records in 1983. Track 17 is also known as Franny's Medley (the title it was released under when later re-recorded by another version of the Comets). (This comment has been edited to remove erroneous information.)
23skidoo 2nd Apr 2015		CD Album The Lullaby Players - Sleepytime Tunes: Lullaby Renditions Of Johnny Cash (2008)	This ranks among the strangest CDs in my collection. It's not a comedy album, it is in fact a straight lullabies album, yet featuring some songs guaranteed to give kids nightmares. Personal Jesus actually sounds really good in this format!
23skidoo 2nd Apr 2015		CD Album Johnny Cash - Wanted Man: The Johnny Cash Collection (2011)	Should note that the version of Boy Named Sue in this collection is the censored single version. Most recent reissues seem to feature the uncensored track. The version of Long Black Veil is from the Folsom Prison album.
23skidoo 25th Nov 2014		CD Album Bill Haley - The Warner Brothers Years And More (1999)	I seem to be the victim of an implied personal attack on this. I do not own a scanner and the rules of this website clearly state we cannot just go and grab images from other websites. Plus the rules appear to also require us to have Photoshop or some other image-editing software to meet the guidelines for things like label scans. AND on top of it all the box for Warner Bros Years is a full LP-sized box and I don't know of any scanner large enough to scan that size. If you don't want the information, then someone can ban me. I'm entering it in good faith and in particular I am directly connected to this release (my real name is in the booklet as one of the researchers).
23skidoo 21st Nov 2014		CD Album Elvis Presley - The Lost Album (1991)	Compilation of tracks taken from several 1963 recording sessions that were at one point earmarked for a follow-up album to 1962's Pot Luck, but by 1963 the decision had been made to give soundtrack LPs preferential treatment, so the album was scrapped with the recordings scattered between singles and soundtrack filler bonus tracks over the next few years (with a couple also making it onto the totally recycled soundtrack for Tickle Me in 1965). Presumably not all of these tracks would have appeared on the so-called Lost Album as at the time the standard was only 12 tracks to an album, not 15. Which tracks were destined for the album is unclear.
23skidoo 21st Nov 2014		CD Album Elvis Presley - A Hundred Years From Now: Essential Elvis Volume 4 (1996)	Notable for featuring one of the only known recordings on which Presley receives a solo songwriting credit, though technically that's just because he improvises a few words. It's otherwise a jam featuring his band at the time.
23skidoo 21st Nov 2014		CD Album The Original Band [Bill Haley's Comets] - Still Rockin' Around The Clock (1999)	In addition to those musicians listed, onetime Jodimars drummer Max Daffner also participated in some of the sessions for this album and its followup, Aged to Perfection (which came out under the proper Comets name as by then the naming issue had been resolved).
23skidoo 21st Nov 2014		CD Album The Comets - The House Is Rockin' (1998)	The Comets featured on his album: Marshall Lytle (bass; lead vocals on most tracks), Joey Ambrose (sax; lead vocals on 3, 6, 9), Franny Beecher (guitar), Johnny Grande (piano), Dick Richards (drums; lead vocal on 11, 14), with Jacko Buddin on lead vocals for 18-20. During the interview track 21 the band can be heard playing Rock Around the Clock in the background but it's not included in full on the album.

23skidoo 16th Nov 2014		CD Album Bill Haley - Crazy Man Crazy (1995)	Very poor mastering and sound quality except on track 9. I have multiple copies of the other tracks on other CD releases and the sound quality is far superior.
23skidoo 16th Nov 2014		CD Album Bill Haley - American Legends (1996)	The cover art is a reproduction of the postage stamp honoring Haley released by the US Postal Service in the early 1990s. Album features tracks (including remakes) recorded for Warner Bro. in 1960. Most tracks are from the 1960 album Bill Haley and His Comets, with a couple originating from their other AB album, Haley's Jukebox.

23skidoo 16th Nov 2014		CD Album Jive Bunny And The Mastermixers - Jive Bunny: The Album (1989)	Due to the complex licensing I believe there are several different versions of this album around. The one I index here, as noted above, has an Elvis impersonator instead of the original Presley samples, and uses Haley recordings from 1968 whereas other versions use the 1954 original versions. I've also heard a version of Swing the Mood that replaces all the samples with impersonator performances.

23skidoo 16th Nov 2014		CD Album Various Artists - The Greatest Live Show On Earth: Live At The Paris Olympia '58-'66 (2000)	All live recordings previously unreleased. The CD was apparently withdrawn from sale at one point. The Haley tracks were later reissued (with others from the concert) by Big Beat Records of France on the CD Vive La Rock And Roll. I do not know whether any of the other tracks have reappeared elsewhere.

23skidoo 8th Nov 2014		CD Album Keely Smith With The Frankie Capp Orchestra - Swing, Swing, Swing (2000)	In the 1950s, Smith was not only Louis Prima's singing partner, but also his wife. Most of the songs on this CD recorded in the late 1990s are associated with Prima.

23skidoo 3rd Nov 2014		CD Album Kate Bush - This Woman's Work Anthology 1978-1990 (1990)	I'm still waiting for any of my personal favorite modern-day artists (Enya, Laurie Anderson, and others) to put out something even remotely as comprehensive as this set. There were rumors that an updated edition would come out around the time of Bush's comeback album Aerial (thus incorporating The Red Shoes and Aerial), but sadly nothing came of it. EDIT: Obviously I wrote this back in 2014; in 2018 such an expanded version did come out.

23skidoo 28th Oct 2014		CD Album Enya - And Winter Came (2008)	Enya has claimed that this is the first album of her's to include an electric guitar solo, but this is incorrect as there is also one on the track "I Want Tomorrow" from her 1986 album "Enya" (later reissued as "The Celts").
23skidoo 24th Oct 2014		CD Album Laurie Anderson - Big Science (2007)	"Walk the Dog" was the original B-side of "O Superman". Not sure why they decided to make it a CD-ROM track (limiting its long-term viability as many enhanced CD tracks no longer work) rather than just making it Track 10.

23skidoo 21st Oct 2014		CD Album Enya - Watermark (1989)	The first release of this album on vinyl did not include Storms in Africa II. Please check to confirm that this isn't the 1989 release. This was very early in the CD era, so it's possible it was included from the start as a CD-only bonus track, but I have the 1988 Canadian release and it doesn't include it. I haven't been able to confirm if Africa II was a bonus track from the start in the US.
