Parliament - Get Funked Up (2000)
Alright I'll send a correction but plenty of Spectrum releases were issued with macthing labels, cat#s and barcodes in Australia and the UK only from what I've seen on the net. The European tag for the UK release came from Discogs when I was looking it up Roger and seems to have stuck around. Anyway a Spectrum release of a Shangri-Las comp that I listed as Australian on the site https://www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/5527642 definitely has a UK doppleganger which can be found @ http://www.discogs.com/Shangri-Las-The-Best-Of-The-Shangri-Las/release/3407604 but I'm giving the research a swerve and going by what's on the tin from now on. Consider this one finalised, Pheweee!

Added a full set of scans with a nod to Don Van Barrett for doing the original postings. Two are for moderation, one is an inlay variant and the rest just need to be shuffled into place.

Anyone know why this isn't appearing with the rest of the "Prince Buster" catalogue on the Prince Buster homepage?

Mazzy Star - She Hangs Brightly
First listing for this label, cat# and barcode combo but Italy and the USA have also used the same details for this CD. Labeled CD Australian for future Internationalization when the others arrive. The Australian copy is different in that the label is a "shonky" facsimile of the original and a different colour.

The title of this album should be "Clear" not "Clear Spirit" as it is listed.

Greg, I agree that Bodston's addition of the European listing should be a separate entry but Roger says his UK copy "does have a preceding 0". So I'm inclined to keep this as an International listing rather than change it to Australia as the UK Spectrum release is a match. I have two Spectrum releases that are perfect matches between the UK and Australia I entered the "The Best Of The Shangri-Las" @ https://www.45worlds.com/cdalbum/cd/5527642 yesterday. Strangely, though to try and avoid being the "unpopular one" again I just listed it as Australian and labeled the CD and inlay as Australian in readiness for Internationalization at a later date. From my perspective this seems to be a a less controversial and easier approach to entering CD's although it does leave work to do for the MODS at a later date. It is weird that both approaches are technically wrong and right on the site - so I'm just trying to weave down the path of least resistance at the moment.

The Shangri-Las - The Best Of The Shangri-Las (1997)
Made in Australia and marketed under exclusive license by Polygram Australasia. Spectrum did release the same CD inthe UK with the same cat# and barcode so I'll label the inlay and CD as Australian in readiness for Internationalization.

Sam And Dave - The Best Of Sam & Dave (1998)
A good case for an International release then Phil. I also bought my copy locally at reg. price but that is the case with a lot European releases ie. the entire David Bowie catalogue, many Rhino productions, anything by Disky, CeDe International, some Charly stuff and list goes on. It's just easier to list as per CD details in most cases. Australia must be a dumping ground for a lot of European and even US stock over runs as most of this stuff lands here at discount prices.

Added a full set of scans to this one, there are a number of owners already so thanks are due to the unknown individual that actually did the listing. No need to moderate as no images were previously posted.

Otis Redding - The Dock Of The Bay: The Definitive Collection (1987)
The cat# on this is unique but it belongs only to the Australian edition of this release. So this entry should be changed to Australia as country and not Europe as listed. All the other details match perfectly so it just needs a tweak.

Done! (mod.)

Root! - Surface Paradise (1998)
For the those uninitiated in the "Aussie" vernacular the term "root" in Australia is used as a euphemism for the same thing as "horizontal folk dancing" or the "cucumber rumba".

Red Hot Chili Peppers - What Hits!? (1992)
Added correct date Phil but check this out there are 4 listings for this band on the the site - no wonder I couldn't find another copy. There is a European copy of this posted but it is erroneously titled "What Hits" and not "What Hits!?" as it should be. Anyway here is a copy of the listings for the band on the site,
"Artist CD Albums Years
Red Hot Chili Peppers 8 1987 - 2002
Red Hot Chili Peppers ‎ 1 1992
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers 13 1988 - 2011
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers 1 2007
Red Hot Chil Peppers".
Holy Chihuahua de Chili Peppers leestings are plum loco! So the question is are the Chili Peppers the most illiterate or dyslexic fans on the site? Either way the listings for the band definitely need drastic attention.

I thought this was the first of these to appear but it seems there is already a European (or International) version already posted with same cat# etc.. So it looks like it's fusion time for these two. Sorry for the duplication but I'm sure the other version wasn't up when I did the scans yesterday - you've got to be quick sometimes. By the way the title should be " What Hits!?" not "What Hits" as the other entry is listed. So fix that when the two are joined at the hip and everything will be sweet. Cheers, Lee.

Iggy Pop - Brick By Brick (1990)
Regardless of current rules and procedures it seems we as a community are deeply divided on the issues with the International category in the CD albums section of 45 Worlds. Here are some observations from my experience of using this part of the site.
1. The first task you need to complete when as site user you want to enter a CD is "choose the country the CD album is from" if the answer turns out to be NOT what is written on your CD then the answer wrong, illogical and will confound site users and most likely deter them from entering CDs in the future. Many site users are currently in this predicament and have happily catalogued most of their collections on 45 Worlds but are hesitant to confront this part of the site.
2. The International category is not the "catch all" I think it was imagined to be when this part of 45 Worlds was set up. There are often;
- slight differences in barcodes (the preceding "0" or extra number being common variations)
- slight differences in cat#s eg. Australia has penchant for reducing a cat# that has hyphens and spaces to a single string of consecutive numbers.
3. The matching International CD releases are rarely global but rather regional or shared by a small number of countries. So the idea that this category would bring releases together and simplify the entry process and homepage listings has not necessarily turned out that way at all. The homepages are very messy particularly for big name acts.
4. Having entered about 300 CDs in last month no matter what decision I make on the "choose a country" I'm invariably wrong. In my experience collectors and site users are fiercely defensive about their local national release and my attempts to have USA, European and UK releases made International have often been met by hostile resistance. On the flip side going by the "what's written on the CD" route will often see your entry changed from the country you have entered to International. It can be and often is a no win experience. This is definitely not a user friendly part of the site.

So we certainly have a divided community Internationalists and Nationalists and both camps can manipulate the current rules to suit either point of view but this generally results in a lot of time wasting and pointless argument and friction between members and MODS. So here is my suggestion of how we could perhaps solve some of these problems. This CD is listed as;

Artist: Iggy Pop
Title: Brick By Brick
Label: Virgin
Country: Australia

However, a German release may exist with the same label, cat# and barcode. If that were to turn up rather than meld the entries would it possible to have two linked entries as follows;
Artist: Iggy Pop
Title: Brick By Brick
Label: Virgin
Country: Australia / International (hyperlink to other releases with same label, barcode and cat#.
and,
Artist: Iggy Pop
Title: Brick By Brick
Label: Virgin
Country: Germany / International (hyperlink to other releases with same label, barcode and cat#.

In general my feelings are that the country of origin/release must stay for ease of input from members and from a searching for a release perspective. If a CD has be made International and user is, lets say, entering a UK made copy of that same CD, I believe they will be more likely to enter the UK version than click "I Own" on the International listing. My big concern is endless duplication once CDs have been classified International. So back the the good old country model for mine I'm afraid. Any thoughts appreciated.

The Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue (1986)
Review
A classic example of the "Stones" 1980's uninspired sludge. Old Mick whining on about how much he loves young girls makes up 80% of lyrical content on the album. BORING. The rest is equally unimpressive except for one track "Down In The Hole". This track reminds you that the "Stones" are capable of writing a good song but unfortunately it is the only one on the album. Two singles were lifted from the album, "She's So Cold B/W Send It To Me" and the title track "Emotional Rescue B/W Down In The Hole". If you can put up with the imagery of Mick bearing down on you on "a fine Arab charger" then my advice would be to buy the single for "Down In The Hole" and avoid the album altogether.

One good song out of ten. Rated 1 out of 10.

Jimmy Rogers - Hard Working Man (1992)
I have an Australian copy of this with the same barcode and cat# but it has two logos on the CD one for Castle Communications Australia and one for Charly R & B. I also have the Australian version of the Jimmy Reed Vol. 17 issue of this series which is marketed by Castle but does NOT have the Castle label on the CD. I think they may have pressed early versions of the series here in Australia then switched to importing them when they had a better grasp of the market. Either way both CD's fit the criteria for Australian and International. It seems that the one with the Castle logo fits the Australian category more appropriately but the other fits the International category better. Confounding as they are both marketed and distributed by Castle Australia and both carry the same label, cat# and barcodes as their UK counterparts. I'll hold off awaiting advice.

Johnny Kidd And The Pirates - The Classic And Rare.... (1990)
Thanks for your input on this one people but when entered it I put in the notes " most likely made for UK market but no real proof on the packaging so just listed as France..." and followed it with invitation for whovever checks the entry to feel free to alter the country as I'm most likely wrong. I know See For Miles is a UK company (albeit run by an American) but a catalogue address is not really a lot to go on when entering a CD.

Pulp - Different Class (1995)
No CD for this one I'm afraid - mine got stuck in someone's car CD player and I never saw it again. So my copy is a home burn in this case but I'm sure someone will have a proper CD of this one out there. Interestingly the Australian CD was black with white writing the opposite of the UK release in terms of colouring.

Johnny Kidd And The Pirates - The Classic And Rare.... (1990)
Thanks Alenko but by what sort of telepathic powers am I meant to know this information from my house in Australia? I would list it as International as all the See For Miles releases were available in Australia as well. I have the vinyl See For Miles releases of the Pretty Things and several other acts from back in the early 80's and these series were freely available here and always have been. So See For Miles has never been just a UK concern as far as I know from it's inception it targeted specific markets around the globe. So difficult to know from my perspective.

Discogs lists as France, bought mine in Australia reg. price, most likely made for UK market but no real proof on the packaging. If it is UK or Europe and I bought it in Australia what is it? Went with labeling on this one but most likely wrong but I'm used to that.

Iggy Pop - Brick By Brick (1990)
Sheesh, more protocols than proper processes. I know that another CD exists and therefore this is an International release according the rules of the site but because one is not listed here, I list as Australian (wrong by the rules of listing releases) and if the other release turns up the MODS change my Australian to International (extra needless work for the MODS). Then when I go look for the Australian listing at a later date it's gone and learned Esperanto and joined International brigade.
I think I'll just swerve the whole International fiasco that this site seems unable to resolve and go back to entering the same way as I did for LP's, CD Singles, 45's and 12" Singles where I never had a problem at all (other than minor mistakes). So I'm going back to entering everything as it says on the tin and doing no more research that just gets me into pointless debates where everyone has a different concept of how things are done.
I'll whack 'em in and they can sort themselves from now on. Well now I don't have to deal with that barrell of monkeys it'll be a lot quicker process from now on.
Unfortunately the International fiasco is not the only problem in CD world the band homepages are ridiculous - check the Queen or Beatles page and try and find something from the 1980's - then go to Discogs and look for the same thing. There's a big difference in usability between the two sites. Never mind still got scans to do! Cheers to everyone who has tried to help me but I'm going back to me old ways from some distant lands. Lee

So Phil, we should change the label to Virgin America AND change the listing to International on the basis that German edition listed @ http://www.discogs.com/Iggy-Pop-Brick-By-Brick/release/2856019 has the same label, cat#, and barcode. Do you think that would be appropriate?

Now that I look at it more closely I can see that on the CD it is the old Virgin logo yet on the inlay it is the Virgin America logo and the copyright is to Virgin Records America Inc. What to do? Should we leave it as Australian or change it to International?
