ppint. 6th Nov 2015		CD Album Various Artists - Soul Of Sue Records (2005)	- "yeurrp" appears to be something of a movable feast, covering a multitude of multiplex sins, rogerf, depending upon whether the speaker sees a profit to be made, monetary or political, with minimal actual observance of the rules or l'esprit communitaire, by attacking yeurrp for some imagined or real inconvenience or hurt (allegedly) caused - or, by attacking others for (allegedly) abusing or failing to observe those selfsame rules, or to display a suitably yeurppean spirit. - and the most obnoxious aspects of the yeurppean union appear to stem from the national governments horse-trading away of the freedoms and liberties of the people they claim to represent, to the ever-increasing profits of their friends, their supporters, and the megacorpses, mega-banks and insurance corpses who ultimately own, and are owned by, our "natural" governing parties. - help! - yr hmbl srppint. may be turning into billy bragg and/or the proclaimers!
ppint. 5th Nov 2015		CD Album Various Artists - Soul Of Sue Records (2005)	rogerf: yes, what megamusicorpses international are doing to the concept of the record label would make a blue whale weep - but "stateside is a capitol music label" seems about as definitive as it's now possible to get - until & unless we45worlders'n'catters decide to lay the blame at the door to which it ultimately belongs. . . (- and whilst we - or, at least, some of us - may yet recognise - some - national boundaries - for some nationalities - within yeurrp - 'twould appear merkins've ceased to do so ... long since...)
ppint. 3rd Nov 2015		CD Album Prince - 20Ten (2010)	disc designed by meurig reese, credited on disc obverse; cat# is given from disc reverse, no other number appearing on disc or on card sleeve (bar that of the year (& the title)).
ppint. 29th Oct 2015		CD Album Various Artists - Dead Cool (2004)	something of a confusion would appear to've occurred, as the number on the reverse of the disc is ind001, which seems to've been the intended cat#, as judged by the concurrence of these numbers with those on the obverse of the disc and the sleeves, with others in this series (e.g. ind004, "free and single"); but on both the obverse of this cd, and on its sleeve, it's indeed ind01. this compilation packaged & produced for the independent by teabag ltd. tel. 020 7953 7510 (changes to 020 7940 4648 on ind004).

ppint. 29th Oct 2015		CD Album Various Artists - Festival Sounds (2007)	catalogue number given, 2100000726516, is on the reverse of the disc: no other id-string occurs upon either side of the cd, nor is any printed upon the card sleeve. this compilation packaged for the times by the practice (http://www.the-practice.com), executive producer andrew cleary for picture music ac ltd, and it bears a "parental advisory" logo/mark.
ppint. 29th Oct 2015		CD Album The Beach Boys - The Sound Of Summer (2009)	rear of card sleeve is a lot darker blue on my copy - i don't know whether there's so great a "natural" variation in one print-run, whether tmos needed a second (or further) printing because of greater demand, or whether the copy i have may've been printed separately for distribution the following week in norn iron and/or the roi (we've virtually no recognition of the week's delay in the distribution of the mail-on-sunday's freebie cds on the island of ireland on "cdworld" - yet). - any 45cat/worlders with any ideas? - any definitive statement(s) on the irish distribution of these mail on sunday cds?
ppint. 18th Oct 2015		CD Album Various Artists - NME Presents A Taste Of Heavenly Recordings (2002)	g'78s: aha! (to risk an xxxxian obscenity ;-) ) - iswym. "the answer's the same, but the question's different", to re-coin a phrase. cds're multi-layer (tablettything's trying to insist on "multi-dimensional" - i wonder what s/he/it's trying to tell me°) - and it doesn't really matter which way up the transparent plastic base is, before the aluminium?alloy? "silver" layer (& the colour layer) is laid down/bonded on/whatever (even stapled on could/might work, so long as the staples don't protrude upwards (from the obverse, label side) too much, nor from the reverse (the played/read side) too much - if at all - and so don't interfere with the disc carriage mechanism, and definitely don't interfere with the reading lens &/or its transport mechanism - staples, whate'er they be made of, nor insets designed to keep them out of the way.°°,°°° °°° - and any liquid, or gas, or substantial solid, opaque foreign matter can intrude between the transparent surface and the very thin layer readable metal, then difficulties playing back the recorded data/digitaliesd music will arise, sooner or later, whether through introducing too great (= an unbridgeable) physical gap in the continuity of the data; chemical degradation of the "silver" metallic thin layer, and hence of the data; the introduction of an inconsistently variable refractive interface in the path of the reading laser - or, the destruction of the material the staples're made of, and hence their integrity. . . (°° - quite what the tolerances may be for all these, variously, i've never bothered to look up: but they'll be somewhere on the wibblywobblywonderful, i've little doubt.) ° - "not by its cover" - by philip k. dick
ppint. 18th Oct 2015		CD Album Various Artists - NME Presents A Taste Of Heavenly Recordings (2002)	g'78s: er, "yes, and no." (not excessively helpful, but accurate.) - printing onto the reverse surface is theoretically & technically possible, but inadvisable - the ink(s)(dyes, pigments) could easily obscure part of the playing track, etc.); so i doubt music cd "presses" are set up to do it at all; - information including the matrix-equivalent number, frequently the "pressing" company id, and usually the music corpses' cat#, sometimes also the bar-code number or some derivative of it, etc, is almost always included by the same process and at the same time as that placing the digitally-encoded audio track on/in the cd layer: this cannot be altered except by production of a new master-pressing-plate-equivalent, as it's sealed into the cd thus, as the encoded data "silver" layer is produced. - physical impression into the reverse surface as the disc is "pressed" is possible, and occasionally seems to've been deliberately achieved to add some further information; well within the radius of the "label" circle on the obverse of the disc - usually (more-or-less) in or within the circle of the matrix-equivalent no./code, etc.
ppint. 18th Oct 2015		CD Album Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds (2011)	there will be an earlier edition of the digital remaster, as this edition post-dates the (may 2013°) sale of the newly-established, hived-off parlophone label group to the warner/kinney-services/national car-parks/first bank of hackensack/(etc.) megacorpse by the mca/universal/emi/(etc.) megacorpse according to the eu's competition rules (& the specific ec ruling placing conditions on permitting universal/(etc.)'s purchase of emi/parlophone/(etc.)) for musical megacorpses. ° - i thought booths kendal's manglement, store-mangler-on-duty, supervisor(s) & staff'd be happier if i went and paid for my eight items, rather than sat beyond the checkouts looking up the precise year/date straight away - they had bothered to open the store on sunday (with a little help from their indentured slav^W^W^W the workers), after all... (edited to correct dates'n'details of divestment/absorbtion process, and my tenses)
ppint. 17th Oct 2015		CD Album Buffy Sainte-Marie - Up Where We Belong (2009)	(not sure this needs noting dept:) these are new recordings, primarily of the songs buffy sainte-marie is most often requested to sing when she performs live on stage - or on tall coffee bar-stool, or wherever. (some of the vanguard recording society tracks have been resurfacing, but i'm not sure whether she sees any royalties from such "resurrections", since the end of vrs - does anycatter know, for certain?)
ppint. 14th Oct 2015		CD Album The Four Tops - Reach Out (2008)	the arithmetic of the four aims' founding in 1953, line-up remaining unchanged for thirty years prior to lawrence payton's death in 1997, looking forwards to a possible "doubtless" celebration of their half-century and mention of their 1981 disco hit on neil bogart's casablanca records but naught further, seems somewhat confused and suggests they both were, and weren't, written in/in time for 2003, five years prior to this cd's release; or perhaps the mid-late eighties... - maybe written then, and later slightly revised c. 2000-2 ?
ppint. 14th Oct 2015		CD Album John Hartford - Annual Waltz (1987)	philmh: with mca/universal still using mca cat#s, i'd call it about evens, either way - until &/or unless "new dot" label staff signs & releases fresh newly-recorded material by (live or studio-only, e.g. producer-conductor plus pick-up orchestra, lone nutter with studio, computers'n'wppsers're, sound generators, drum machines...) currently extant artists°, separately from mca head recorded music (etc.) office manglement. - but i'll allow it's a moot point. (° - yes, or new as well as reissued back catalog(ue) soundtracks of locomotives, or spacecraft, or time machines... ;-)) )
ppint. 13th Oct 2015		CD Album John Hartford - Annual Waltz (1987)	philmh: i'd say "yes, if mca've resurrected the dot label as a live label", but, "no, if mca're only using it as a bit of atmospheric design on (some) (& perhaps not necessarily always dot-catalog(ue)-sourced) reissues." (- cf. castle/sanctuary/etc.'s use of the "immediate" logo & others on compilation cds issued by and/or on castle, sanctuary, pulse, castle pulse (etc, etc.) ) (- & yes, i'm sure some won't agree with yr hmbl srppint. :-) )

(it's too soon for "which" to say what their customer service're like - or how much or how often needed) - and even if i did, yr hmbl srppint. lacks a scanner.)

(correction already requested.)
ppint. 12th Sep 2015		CD Album Blur - Parklife (1994)	the disc, itself, bears nowhere upon it food record's "foodcd 10". the placement of the "16/tracks" (etc.) circular sticker seems more-or-less random, save that - so far - all the copies i've seen have it on the upper half of the case front.
ppint. 12th Sep 2015		CD Album Céline Dion - Let's Talk About Love (1997)	- my copy is as per this, except: bears an english language-only black sticker (with white text) front near-topmost left on jewel-case front reading "16 brand new tracks/featuring/"tell him"/(duet with barbra streisand)/"the reason"/"my heart will go on"/(theme from the forthcoming film, "titanic")/+/a host of special guests including/carole king, the bee gees/and a duet with luciano pavarotti/31-48959-10"; near the end of the arc of rubric on the outer edge (almost) of the disc obverse is stated "made in austria 489159 2 31 489159 10"; on reverse of the disc the matrix-equivalent no. is "50148915910-0101" followed by "(large gap) 142 (gap) (surface-impressed:) G1" - from all of which i deduce that this is the yeurppean release...° ° - any canadadadian release would've borne at least the back printed-paper insert & disc obverse rubric in french as well as english - surely?

Chopin: Klavierkonzert / Piano Concerto No.2 • Trauermarsch / Funeral March • Etude Op. 10/3 • Polonaise Op.53 (1992)	n.b. the music, the soloists, the performances, the conductor/director and the orchestra are all identical with disc 2 of the two-cd 44 9062-2 "vol. 13 chopin" release, bar-code no. 036244906228, though the track-listings of that are monolingual, in english (almost), not bilingual in german & english (almost).
ppint. 8th Sep 2015		CD Album The Chieftains - The Chieftains In China (1984)	8/9/15: i succumbed. i caught them on tour with two chinese musicians playing weird & wonderful chinese instruments (as well as more "normal" ones - though one of the weirder ones was extremely normal - n-million° metal pipes sticking straight up from a base held? and blown into by the musician using fingers(?) (? not thumbs?) to elicit differently-pitched notes), which is when i bought the lp. °- well, "lots" - and they were very shiny...
