The Corrs - Home (2005)
hell, yeah!, fokeman - the "incorrect" use of capital letters by this particular catter is far more important than the accuracy and even presence of the bibliographic and other recorded "minutiae" - including information on series and two-way links to & from their elements: it's not as though it's the information regarding the various forms of recorded music - or of the books and their contents, or of the recorded films and t.v., and theirs, and to their interrelationships - that really matters now, not in comparison with so heinous a crime - is it?

- except that various other contributors' variations in usage and formatting, including Apparently randomly Capitalising every other Word, or Possibly every other Other Word, or Not, or spellingz, or Using numera1s INSTEAD OF l3tt3rs or w0rds, or erratic or perhap's its consis'tently incorrect use of apostrophe's, or committing malapropisms or whatever, parses without excoriation, expectoration or exorcism being ejaculated, performed or taken . . .

- so is it possible that the provision of accurate bibliographic "minutiae" regarding books and their contents, and the various forms of recorded music, etc., may actually be of greater, rather than lesser, import?

- and, fwiw, "inexplicably" may not be quite le mot juste, given explication has in fact been provided more than once; and, in fact and indeed, once quite recently. . .

it being of course not possible that yr hmbl srppnt. has entered the data for this or any other item owned, physically held and examined by myself correctly. . .

..though yr hmbl srppnt. does bother to give such minor details as composers as given in the booklet, on the tray inlay, or even on the disc itself - unlike certain contributors...

- the item may be examined by others by appointment with myself and in my presence at such a place and time as may be convenient to and agreed with me; other terms and conditions may apply as yr hmbl srppnt. from time to time deems fit, appropriate and/or necessary.

The Corrs - In Blue (Special Edition) (2000)
lee: i don't seriously doubt you - but would "warehouse" be a known nz retailer of new cds at (prob'ly) full list retail price of $29.99 ? (asked, cos this ppint. definitely does not know - and i bought it/them/this, in vg+ condition, s/h here in the english north-wet. at least partly hence, my comment...°)

(° - who'd buy it in kiwiiiia, carry it to the north lancashire seaside in yukia, and give it away to a charity shop in morecambe, "the last resort"?°°)
(°° - it must be "international" !!!)

retailed new in "warehouse" at $29.99 - whose $$, and ware wherehouse's wearabouts may be...

(so should prob'ly best be re-flagged "international" (since it's hard to get further afield from aunty podes), just to be on the safe side...)

Various Artists - Heritage Of The Celts (2002)
hallmark music & entertainment logo
(p) & © 2002 pickwick group limited
hallmark is a label owned by pickwick
released under licence from music masters
made in the netherlands
track-listing and artists from rear inlay (copies of cd still shrinkwrapped as bought to give as presents);
track 22 above: title actually there given as "air (for ireland)" which doesn't make very much sense, so i reversed the parenthesizing.
(songs, tunes, melodies being still termed "airs" quite quotidienly across the water, though not here...)
track 5 above: artist should just be "soazig" and should be followed by track 6 as is, then track 7 "brezhoneg" by soazig; then listing as given, numbered tracks 8 onwards until:
track 17 above: title should be preceded by "SECTIONBREAK "

ho-hum. very ho-hum. (- my mistakes in keying-in the data, not the music.)

Connie Francis - Connie Francis Greatest Hits (1994)
*nods* yr hmbl srppnt., not having had to deal with an obi on an imported disc before, and having no knowledge of the japanese music industry, nor written nor spoken language, nor numerals, felt it wisest to refrain from opining upon how to deal with the obi and the information contained thereon. . .

yes, this cd's label appears to be "classic hits" judging by the sample of one: but i looked through the discs of all charly cds i could easily find images of here on cdworld, that are german, uk and yeurppean, and come to the conclusion there aren't yet enough of 'em up, to be sure of a sensible way to divide them into "charly (german flag) (definite sub-label)" - whereas they are all "charly (german flag) (so far amorphous group of possibly linked sub-labels)";

- hence my suggestion of how to group them whilst waiting for enough to be added, for it to become clearer which actually are separate labels, and which are in fact slight variations of one label sharing , say, the one "classic hits", " classic soul", "classic $foo1, $foo2, ..." and "classic $foox" label cat# sequence - and, for that matter, if they do.

Connie Francis - Connie Francis Greatest Hits (1994)
this is a charly schallplaten gmbh cd, and so should be re-flagged german: it gives the german street address, in frankfurt-am-main, etc. in evidence of this.

it is not on "the cedar label" as this is an electronic/computer audio tape/source noise-removal technology, and the name of the company providing the service using this commercially, not a music co.

the label should be changed to charly - or "charly schallplaten gmbh", as this already exists on cdcat (though it shouldn't really have the "gmbh", as part of its name on 45worlds.com - nor, arguably, the "schallplaten", as this means "records" which isn't included in label names here)°.

(° - so better-aligned with 45worlds' practice would be to give the two german charly schallplaten gmbh cds the label name, "charly", and the german flag; and to await the addition of enough german charly label cds, to make clearer if & into what they should be sub-divided.)

Fats Domino - Blueberry Hill (1991)
be very wary of all cds bearing the name "tring international" - or even just the town name of "tring" on them: they are very likely to be of low quality, may not involve more than one - or any ? - of the musicians, including vocalists, with whom the purported group, band or vocal combo is normally associated, and will often be or include re-recordings made using inferior equipment, sometimes decades later than the expected tracks: "caveat emptor" indeed. . .

The Doors - Strange Days (2007)
making release country a tag, and therefore non-exclusive of others, sounds like it would work:
it would in fact also be appropriate to lpcat (vinyl albums), once the great multi/trans-national musicmegacorpse conglommerglutination got (im)properly under way...

- and it could presumably be set to display the current mini flags, which people do seem to like -

- and the coding for tags has also been written by the possibly mythical creator cat;

- and cataloguing (entering) cds by artist - title - label - cat# - barcode would be using indica that are on the cds, and on their printed inlay cards+inserts/digipacks/card sleeves - so it wouldn't demand expert knowledge/inspirational interpretation of auspices, bones and internal organs, neither. . .

lol!

so what are the defining characteristics of audio (including music, dramatised performances, dramatised readings, sound effects, whale & bird song, etc.) cds ?

some are or have been published by small companies for essentially the local country/countries/trading bloc.
they may hold the rights to sell further afield (and may not), but either don't do so, or it is only done if a wholesaler/distributor in a country or trading bloc picks up the publisher's catalogue.

some are or have been published by large national companies for essentially the local country/countries/trading bloc and for sale anywhere else in the world they hold the rights to do so, whether exclusively or not, but may not do much of this open market business.

some are or have been published by multi- & trans-national megacorpses in one or more of the territorial distribution areas they carve up sound recordings rights into;
these cds, any one megacorpse may have manufactured, or had manufactured for them, in one or more factories more or less locally to each of these distribution territories -
and the number of these distinct territories has shrunk, and the size of each of them increased accordingly, depending mostly upon predominant language blocs, legal requirements of major countries and trading blocs, economies of large scale manufacture, distribution costs, especially trans-oceanic distribution costs (whether by air freight or wet containerised shipping).

it looks rather as though "international" should not be an alternative ruling out countries, but an optional addition;

does the same apply to "europe" ?

to "north america"?

to "south america" ?

to "australasia" ?

to "south-east asia, including malaysia, indonesia, melanesia & micronesia" (is this the right split?) ?

to "india (& what else)" ?

to "southern africa" ?

to "north africa & the near east" ?

to "west africa" ?

to "china" ?

- i'm asking all of these, cos i don't actually know what the major territories the musicmegacorpses currently split the prerecorded cd world into.
