Actually it was not sold after 44 bids and last bid of US $30,100. Ended: Aug 22, 2014 21:15:57 PDT: Reserve price not met
Two things here bother me --- one is the seller. He uses his website and catalogues to promote his mixture of political and religious ideology. A few years ago a friend of mine showed me his catalogue and I was appalled at the way this seller used it in that manner -- and I say that as a religious person and patriotic Canadian who loves her country. But I don't push either, or any other aspect of my personal stances, on you folks.
The other is that I've always had an issue with 'reserve' auctions. While I am not sure what he set as that price, if he intended to not sell until it hit that, then why not set the opening bid there. Its a bit sleazy to me -- almost like its done just to test the waters with no real intent to sell.
Of course don't tell others in the elite of the 78 rpm collecting community about these sort of issues unless you want to have a bucket of scorn tossed your way

If you could afford to pay that amount for an item like this.... rather than say, food, or the mortgage, then I'm fairly sure ebay is mot your first stop for such a thing; You get "your man" to do it for you surely!
Smacks of showing off I think.
Hadn't looked too closely at the seller Jock_girl, but I quite agree, but this is odd, considering the myth surrounding Robert Johnson... you'd think the seller and the sale are somewhat curious bedfellows... incongruous, you might say.
The other thing that made me suspicious is that there are a number of reissue box sets with replicas of the original discs for sale on ebay now, it's just been released i gather, in a limited run... And while I'd never suggest someone would simply hook out a replica reissue and try selling it as what would essentially be a spotless antique, it does make you wonder.

Well the seller may be a bit of a prat, but he isn't the type to sell a reproduction as a the real deal. As far as records go, he is knowledgeable .. but a prat nonetheless. I wouldn't buy from him

ICK! YUCKY!
If I were a Robert Johnson fan, I'd feel totally ripped off. Given that most of his fans are 78 rpm people anyway, I can't understand why these didn't get released as such. Non-78 people would no doubt buy a CD of the tracks
Makes about as much sense as the RSD Capitol 78 of Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys!

The labels look a little too large too.
That said, i must admit I quite like the look of this set... better than paying all that cash for one dubious purchase from dubious vendor, that you'd be scared to play if it is the real deal!
