The Soundtrack Of Our Lives - Welcome To The Infant Freebase
...pretty much all of their LPs have been doubles.
Some nearly doubles:
Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies (plays at 45rpm)
PJ Harvey - Dry (came with a free LP of demos)
Grandaddy - Under The Western Freeway (came with a card that you could send off and obtain a bonus 12" of more tracks)
....probably lots more of these 'bonus' releases

A lot of vinyl albums made during the CD era are double albums but single CDs. Here's Lady Lamb The Beekeeper's three sided debut. The Dead Weather's "Horehound" is a similar three sided affair and Tame Impala's "Innerspeaker" was a full fledged double but a single CD. So I'm guessing in the modern era there would be loads of similar double album debuts.
That's a good point. CDs can contain much more material than LPs. I often thought Badly Drawn Boy's first album was effectively a double, although it was a single disc with 18 tracks.
The first (and only) album by The Masked Marauders was reviewed in Rolling Stone (prior to release) as a double album, but what did we get? This piece of RS 6378.
