This Europe thing is making the site a mess.
Why doesn't it work like 45cat.com where you put the release in for your country and then it can be linked to other countries. The present arrangement means you cannot look up a list of songs your favourite artist released in your country, as a single may be listed as the country it comes from, Europe or, for example, Austria (cos it says it was made there) or anywhere else.
I have so far put in over 50 CD singles and added photos for several others and got to Al in the alphabet, but have decided not to bother putting Am - Z in. The last straw was when I found a single released for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal listed as Europe! Where else would that have been released. At the very least if you MUST keep Europe, only moderators should have access to that category and they should put each country it is known to have been released in within the notes space.
Very Disillusioned.
Usually based in the UK, I normally only use Europe where I am reasonably certain that a single had a wider release, by looking at for example chart information, ebay and fan websites. If I have entered a CD under UK, this allows other members to request a change to Europe if they consider this justified.
Jake Shmarm mentioned the Poppy Appeal single and I am sure that if you request a correction, the moderator will look into it. Some time ago, I noticed I that a UK charity single I had was entered under Europe. This was readily changed by the moderator.
The moderators tend to be reasonable people and I'm sure they will look into any points raised!.

Whilst I agree with the item you have highlighted (171 743 9) which is raising some funds for the Royal British Legion I can see why it has been listed as an European issue. The BIEM/SABAM credits are for Germany & Belgium and the item is endorsed Europe several times on the disc and cover. I have checked "the net" and this single only ever charted in the UK so as you state it must have been a UK only release therefore I have changed the country. Easily done if you find any others that you think may be wrong.
Feel free to enter your singles as UK releases and we'll wait to see if members from other countries indicate that a particular disc was given a trans-europe release. It then can looked at by a Moderator to make any necessary adjustment.
Having added CD singles upto BA in my collection I am continually frustrated by singles posted as europe just because they say "Made in...(insert any european country)". Also, if I want to know what songs a particular group issued in the UK there is no way of knowing.

I feel your pain Jake this is also an issue for CD Albums. It is hard to say quite often where a CD was originally available, as a buyer of collections I have no idea apart from the packaging, which can be of little help.

I have been thinking about the Europe problem.
I bet there is no single on here that has been released in every country in Europe so the category is defunct.
What we need is an "Also Released In" button.
e.g.
Bertie British puts on a CD single (that was issued in the UK) as a UK release.
Francois French looks up the same group and finds he has the exact same CD Single that was issued in France. What he should be able to do is go to Add Missing Info, click the "Also Released In" button, which takes him to the country selection screen, select France and the record is then added to the French list. It would only be in the database once but with two country indicators. Later, If Peter Polish comes on and has the same CD Single issued in Poland, he could do the same, select Poland and it would add to the Polish list. This way you get a complete list of what each artist has released in each country.
What does anyone think?
Jake's idea is a good one,it's one i suggested quite a while back, but was rejected at the time because of the number of flags that may be required,i.e,most albums have been released on average in 3 countries, although there's also a lot that have been released in 5 countries, and i've seen some go up to ten! (obviously singles may be less,3 may be the average). Then comes the question of how adding these additional countries would cause the CD to show up in any list anywhere,i.e,under a particular country?unless software is re-written,currently,if you add a CD,there's only one entry that registers, that's surely why we're grouping Europe/International entries that have the same Cat.No/barcode together at the mo?,if it were possible, then great,i've always believed that users entering where they have purchased an item would work best (excluding imports)(although of course there is the realisation that a lot of music is bought second-hand,from record stores/fairs/charity shops/online etc etc so the origin would be in question anyway),so i'm all for it,if the snags could be worked out (a flag,or two artwork/disc for country of manufacture as well perhaps?;).
The record was made in the USA, but recorded in Curaçao. The Henriquez Recording Studio also seems to have been located in Curaçao (see record sleeves), which then belonged to the Dutch Territory of Curaçao and Dependencies, flying the Dutch flag. Suriname was its own, different Dutch territory (also called Dutch Guiana).
Curaçao was known as Curaçao and Dependencies from 1815–1954 and used the Dutch flag if I remember rightly so it mighty be best to add the flag under Former Sovereign States. As from 1954–2010 they was known as Netherlands Antilles before changing there name to Curaçao in 2010.
