Gavin & Stacey

2007 - 2010
Would it be best to change this title to Gavin And Stacey to tie in with the DVD's or vice-versa?

After series 2 it all got a bit predictable and boring. Same old situations, same old Dorien. Yawn

Better Call Saul

2015 - 2022
I stumbled upon this series by mistake as I was browsing Netflix, and have been watching episodes bit by bit by bit..........

In my humble opinion, it is even better than 'Breaking Bad', which although I (think) I've seen every episode, became a bit too relentless for me viz a vis the"body count".

There were some good performances on this short lived Ch4 show. In particular Tormé, Girlschool and Waysted! 33 Years Ago!!

A pretty amazing selection of bands performed, erm, mimed, on this TV show by the ABC network, apparently the show was taped so lets hope for some compilation DVDs.

The Kenny Everett Video Show

1978 - 1981
I don't think it's dated at all, Anarchaic comedy never seems to die, the guy was so far ahead of his time. Can't wait to see the full Thames television series released as it was head and shoulders over the BBC shows he did. The music slots were great as well and I remember two in particular, The Boomtown Rats "Someone's Looking At You" and Squeeze playing "Cool For Cats" (The extended version) not to mention the Hot Gossip routines. Just brilliant

Since the series is now being continued with the original cast, and we usually keep continuations under one entry, I've asked the mods to remove the end date off the main entry. (Edit: the show has just been renewed for what is officially being called its 11th season.)

You wouldn't half know this show was being run at a time when the country was slightly more affluent than it is today. Nothing like this on TV now in the age of austerity.

Max Headroom

1987 - 1988
I'm with Harley on this. I recall the TV film came before the first series, the film sets up the first series, ie the wisecracking detective/investigator gets his personality stolen/digitised by a computer geek, the computer containing the talking head then falls into the hands of a tiny independent TV broadcaster and is used to review music videos (and in the process tops the ratings and becomes a much sought after item). The computer/monitor box got bashed/damaged which is why the talking head forgets his name and adopts "Max Headroom" and often jitters when talking.
The 'first' series just had Max introducing videos and making wisecracks, its not on 45worlds yet. According to that website the first series began 1985 and was one of the early CH4 broadcasts, it was budget TV with a good idea.
Beavis & Butthead was essentially the same idea.

Seven Ages Of Rock

2007
I've added this series, which as I remember was quite good, just so i can show off this interesting 7" sleeve I found recently.
It's produced by BBC Worldwide, promoting 7 x 50 minute episodes, but I found it containing a probably unrelated U2 bootleg.
Design for this sleeve was by John Wilson, see more at this link:
Quote:
For the graphics for the international sales brochure, I deliberately employed the vernacular language of gaffer tape and marker pen to capture the traditional 'roadie' handwriting scribble, which in turn conveyed the 'live' and 'raw' aspect of this exciting music genre

Logan's Run

1977 - 1978
Always wanted to see this because I was a fan of the original film, and also I found Heather Menzies rather appealing (and I found it interesting that for the series they made her to look like Farrah Fawcett's character in the original movie). I finally bought the DVD set in early December 2017 and was about to sit down to watch it over the the Christmas holidays when I heard the sad news that Heather (who was the widow of Robert Urich) had passed away. Finally starting to watch it now and it's a fun show, though the movie is somewhat better because it tells a self-contained story. That said, the TV series fills in a lot of backstory, and the character of Rem is terrific. He really feels like a dry-run for TNG's Data, which may not be a coincidence since Data was based on an android character Gene Roddenberry created for a TV movie called The Questor Tapes a few years before Logan's Run and DC Fontana, script editor for Logan's Run and later a producer on TNG, had also been involved in the TV movie.

Don't Knock The Rock

1977
I see comments on the web that seem to say that this compilation was first shown on September 30, 1964 titled Whole Lotta Shakin. Such as a comment 5 years ago on YouTube. This would mean the Lewis and Richard shows from early 1964 were recompiled already that year and Lewis's title was reused, and then it was rebroadcast in 1977 with new title. I don't have confirmation of this. See a discussion at missingepisodes.com.
