Folker 1st Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDominic Behan And Ewan MacColl - Streets Of Song (1959) | Out of curiosity, why is this listed separately from this 12T41 ? The other listing has three different covers, all different to the above. I know each listing has a "See Also" link to the other, but that seems a bit of a cop out. Either the four variants should all be on the same listing or each variant should have its own separate listing. My personal vote would be for the former, since the latter is too much like the dickogs "hunt the variant" game, which wastes so much time. No doubt others have their own views.
(after extensive discussion this has now been merged with the other variations, mod.)

Folker 20th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Shand And His Band - A Jimmy Shand Selection (1955) | Alternative label scans added. Does anyone have any idea which is earlier, the (more common) faux tartan label or the plain red variant? (your labels given pride of place now. mod.)
Folker 2nd Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Jim Cooper Band - Stray Sods Finding Their Way | Does anybody have a rough idea regarding the date of this one? From the style of sleeve and labels, I'd guess 70s.
Folker 30th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Undertones - Positive Touch (1994) | Supposedly, a limited edition of 500.
Folker 18th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumFinton Lalor Pipe Band - Pipes Of The Gael | Does anyone know when this LP might have been released? My guess is 1950s. Anything about the label would also be of interest. The sleeve says "Recorded in Ireland", but it was released by "TMS Records" of New York. I can't find anything about this label, yet the catalogue number suggests it wasn't their first or only release.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Tarriers - The Tarriers (1956) | Some fairly eyebrow-raising composer credits on the labels. It would seem the band members took the credit for writing "I Know Where I'm Going", "Rock Island Line", "East Virginia" and "Drill, Ye Tarriers, Drill". Wow. In that case, I wrote Macbeth.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumLovin' Spoonful - Best In The West (1983) | Cover scans added.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJean Ritchie - Songs From Kentucky (1956) | Cover scans added. Apologies for the tape marks, but this is hard to find in any condition. On the up side, it did only cost 50p at a car boot sale.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumEwan MacColl With Peggy Seeger, Jimmy MacGregor And John Cole - Barrack Room Ballads (1958) | First cover scans added. Jimmy MacGregor mispelled twice here, as MacGreggor on the cover and Macreagor (!!) on the label.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumPeggy Seeger - Peggy Seeger (1957) | Added 1st issue orange cover. Peggy is barely recognisable in the cover photo.
Folker 12th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Shand And His Band - Scottish Country Dances In Strict Tempo Number One (1954) | Original gold-on-black labels added.
Folker 11th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Shand And His Band - Jimmy Shand's Party (1956) | Added a rear cover scan from a later copy, with straight flipbacks. Note what looks to be the original "27/6" price sticker!
Folker 11th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Shand And His Band - Comin' Thro' The Rye (1957) | Added cover scans to go with the earlier gold-on-black labels. Only minor differences from later design, namely maroon title lettering on front and curved flipbacks on rear.
Folker 11th Apr 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumTom Lehrer - More Of Tom Lehrer (1981) | This listing is a bit of a mess, since it combines two separate releases with different catalogue numbers. I've added label scans from the first issue and have submitted a change request.
Folker 16th Mar 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumPete Townshend - Empty Glass (1980) | I've just bought a copy of this with a Spanish sleeve, but with a UK inner and UK vinyl. The catalogue numbers are different (Spanish sleeve says S 90.231). Has anyone else come across this combination? Or is this just a "marriage"?
Folker 10th Nov 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Great Barr Folk Choir And The Stringalongs - Folk | Just added this one. Associated with two EPs by the same choir, GBCS 3/4 and GBCS 5/6.
The rear of the sleeve is essentially blank, so there is no clue about where it was pressed. The catalogue numbers come from the runoff grooves, where they are prefixed by HNK. Does anybody have any idea which (UK) pressing plant that might have been? Currently, the label is simply attributed to "Great Barr Comprehensive School", for the sake of consistency with the two EPs referenced above.
Folker 10th Aug 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Alarm - The Alarm (1983) | This is also listed on 45worlds 12-inch Singles, here. Technicaly, one of the listings is therefore a duplicate. I've always considered this a 12" single rather than an LP, but it could be argued either way. That then also begs the question about the correct home for the equivalent release on Illegal, which is currently listed on Vinyl Albums here, but not on 12-inch Singles.
Folker 8th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSimon And Garfunkel - Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. | Almost certainly Singapore/Malaysia. The cat no. font is the main clue.
Folker 7th Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumMichael Bentine - Square Bashing (1969) | Oddly, while the label does indeed say 1967, the rear of the sleeve says (c) 1969.
Folker 21st Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumNic Jones - From The Devil To A Stranger | A belated word of agreement with Fokeman's comments. The Transatlantic and Highway issues should be separate. I've submitted a correction in the hope that the mods might sort this out. Ditto for Nics two previous LPs, on Trailer.
Folker 21st Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumNic Jones - Ballads And Songs (1970) | Added what I believe are, chronoligically, the 2nd labels. Dark red background, no track list, silver text.
Folker 28th Feb 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced (1967) | Mine is laminated front-only too. It was originally my mother's and she bought it in 1967. I've never seen a UK copy laminated f&b.
I've long been convinced that "laminated front and back" is yet another in the lamentably long list of errors in the RRPG. I once spotted exactly the same record in three different places in the same edition, all with significantly different valuations. The RRPG makes a good door-stop, but I wouldn't rely on it for much else.
Folker 7th Oct 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumMartin Carthy And Dave Swarbrick - Prince Heathen (1969) | I have this on the blue Fontana label, but suspect that it was originally released on the black equivalent. Can anyone confirm this?
More generally, does anyone know when Fontana switched their LP label colour from black to blue? It must be no earlier than 1970.
Folker 16th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRoy Bailey - Roy Bailey (1971) | Exists in red and yellow label variants, with different rear sleeve detail regarding Leader Sound Ltd. Corresponding scans added.
Folker 16th Jul 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumLeon Rosselson With Martin Carthy And Roy Bailey - The Word Is Hugga Mugga Chugga Lugga Humbugga Boom Chit (1971) | I've added scans for the yellow version of the original Trailer labels. The company details on the rear of the accompanying sleeve are different to those shown, so I've added a scan of the relevant part of the sleeve. Oddly, the "5 North Villas" address is consistent with the earliest Trailer releases (late 60s/early 70s) whereas the scan I've added dates my copy to about 1977/78. The sleeve stock must have got used up in a pretty odd order, for such an early sleeve to end up on an 80s reissue.
Folker 9th Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumJoan Armatrading - Back To The Night | The catalogue number of the original UK issue is AMLH 68305. Original versions have a sleeve which is laminated both front and back. They also have a pink die-cut lyric inner sleeve.
Folker 17th Jan 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumAshley Hutchings, Richard Thompson, Dave Mattacks, John Kirkpatrick, Barry Dransfield - Morris On (1972) | There is a second variant of the sleeve for this particular release, showing "basing street london wII" immediately below "island records ltd" at the bottom rear of the sleeve. Otherwise the sleeve is identical (same printers, catalogue number, etc) and comes with the same vinyl/label.
Does anyone know which sleeve would be the first issue?
