Frankie Laine - Hell Bent For Leather
This album I believe was first released in 1961 - most probably on the Coronet label - same cat #. Discogs has it as Columbia label but the related images are from a CBS copy. My copy is from late 60s - most probably 1969.

Cliff Richard - 32 Minutes And 17 Seconds (1962)
The artist listing for this album should not be Cliff Richard With The Shadows - most tracks are with Norrie Paramor And His Orchestra.

Buddy Holly - The Buddy Holly Story (1969)
No Lee I haven't asked for a correction as my front cover differs - apart from the Gold Star Series sticker there is no "enhanced to Stereo" wording. As yours is the older version it would normally take precedence.

Buddy Holly - The Buddy Holly Story (1969)
I've been wanting to get rid of these water stained images for ages - finally dug up my copy to find it's a later variation - different front, back and labels. My copy bought 5th June 1976. Oh well at least I tried.

Olivia Newton-John - If Not For You (1971)
Actually just listening to the Lightfoot version the lyrics are the same.

Olivia Newton-John - If Not For You (1971)
I have this on a download of the LP (73117) and it is predominantly sung as "If You Could Read My Mind" at the 49 second mark she sings "If I Could Read Your Mind" - just the once. Lyrics otherwise are pretty much same as the original Lightfoot version. So I don't think it's a misprint.

Johnny Horton - The Legendary Johnny Horton (1975)
Hi jockeysteve, I have this album under cat # MFP 5823 with an MFP "special award series" logo on the front. I am interested what is on your copy MFP logo - I can make out "... anniversary special". Looks like this is from around 1974/5 - I bought mine most probably in 1971. Seems strange that they released it twice.

Johnny Cash - Come In Stranger (1970)
Hi Lee, yes the album you mention should have a separate entry. I actually bought mine from a newsagency in Waterloo (near Redfern) in Sydney where I was living at the time.

Johnny Cash - Come In Stranger (1970)
Hi MoreFloyd - I started keeping a date of purchase notation in my database as of May 1972 and I bought this earlier. Probably early 1972 or even 1971. Michael De Looper's database has SRA 250-038 The Wild One Rocks Again - Johnny O'Keefe as 1972. This is generally a good guide. I might add that your copy looks in good nick - the back of mine is covered in age spots.

Black Sabbath - Vol. 4 (1980)
Just a bit of info re these labels.
7 Records was renamed Powderworks in September 1981 after 7 Records chief Ken Harding led a management buy-out. More info is on this Michael DeLooper pdf.

Sonny And Cher - Look At Us (1965)
What is the rule/guide as far as adding (as in this case) an ad for the album. Personally I thought that if it was not part of the album then it shouldn't be here. Not that I am apposed to having them added to the site somewhere (45 Spaces?). I have a scrapbook full of such ads and record reviews mainly from the '70s from Record Mirror, Sounds, Rolling Stone, NME, Go-Set, Soundblast, ARC and WRC catalogues etc.

Elvis Presley - Elvis (1973)
I thought the track list on this looked familiar - same as Australian release "Rock 'N' On 24 Legendary Hits"- RCA ‎– SP-135 also a 1973 release. Except the Australian release has an extra track on each side - A6 - Heartbreak Hotel, B6 - Blue Suede Shoes, C6 - Wooden Heart and D6 - Viva Las Vegas.

Simon And Garfunkel - Sounds Of Silence / Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme (1984)
Michael De Loopers database shows the release date May 1984 for this package under cat# 241078. I don't think that this should be linked to the individual albums and also I think that the date should be changed from 1966 as although the individual cat #s may be from that year this package was not available then.

Elvis Presley - I Got Lucky (1971)
Just the other day I was looking through my old record purchases and noted that I bought a few RCA albums through World Record Club in 1979 and presumed there must have been an association between EMI and RCA at the time. So presumably these were pressed by EMI. I bought a re-issue of Elvis' Gold Records Vol 2, Al Stewart - Year Of The Cat, Perry Como - And I Love You So - I also remember at least one Bowie album in their catalogue.

Thanks wax_museum also confirms that the first CBS issue cover was not laminated.

Billy Joel - Piano Man (1975)
If someone has the solid orange labels for this please feel free to add as a priority over my label images. Just noticed that my copy is matte both sides (not laminated) unusual for CBS releases I presume the first CBS release of this was the same.

The Beatles - Love Songs (1977)
Hi kab2112 - thank you for the polite response, at least I can see where you are coming from now. Thankfully this is a fairly rare occurrence and I'm all for consistency - I still believe that the pack cat# should be the primary number. I could see this one becoming a bit contentious after following the comments in CD World with the Abbey Road U.S.A. long box release.

The Beatles - Love Songs (1977)
kab2112 - "This site specifically asks for the cat# to be taken from the labels," I have also never seen these guidelines perhaps you could let us know where we can find them. They are not in the guide for adding albums that I can see.

Australian release had a "Startling Sound Excitement" label printed on the front cover across their bits.

Yehudi Menuhin And Stephane Grappelli - Fascinatin' Rhythm (1977)
The first time I really took notice of Stephane Grapelli (I'd heard the name a long way back) was on the Hobo's Blues track on Paul Simon's self titled album - I have since come to appreciate this talented always up tempo musician - just brings a smile to my face listening to this genius who makes it seem so easy.

Peter Allen - Taught By Experts (1976)
Front Cover has the generic "Featuring The Hit Single" sticker in this case presumably referring to I Go To Rio.

The Beatles - Love Songs (1977)
This could be another contentious one where there is a package cat # and individual LP cat #s.
From Discogs -
Gatefold sleeve. Black & Silver Parlophone labels with 2 EMI Boxed Logos.
Double pack catalogue no: PCSP 721
Catalogue numbers on labels: PCS 7211 and PCS 7212 respectively.

Elvis Presley - Frankie And Johnny (1975)
Strangely Paul Lichter's book "The Boy Who Dared To Rock" has a Pickwick release listed as cat # ACI-7007, release date as November 1976 and same tracks in a different order starting with What Every Woman Lives For and ending with Petunia, The Gardner's Daughter. Maybe there is another version but seems doubtful.

Billy Joel - Piano Man (1973)
Just checked mine yellow-orange 'Sunburst' variety labels so solid orange must of been short-lived. '76 probably right for the first BJ CBS 45s - would have been little point releasing anything off Piano Man or Streetlife Serenade.

Billy Joel - Piano Man (1973)
According to the Michael deLooper pdf - Piano Man LP SBP 234656 along with Streetlife Serenade SBP 234655 were released on CBS in June 1975. I bought my copy as soon as it was available from the Australian Record Club (May '76).

Billy Joel - Piano Man (1973)
Thanks PhilMH - I thought that the original issue was on CBS but on checking I bought my copy in 1976 that's why it seemed strange. So the original Aussie issue would be this Philips one then subsequently re-issued on the CBS label.

Billy Joel - Piano Man (1973)
What's the story with this one. I know it is a legit release but why on the Philips label seems out of place - all Billy Joel items I have are on CBS/Columbia.

Booker T. And The M.G.'s - Green Onions (1968)
Hi PhilMH - I would have bought this 1969/70 along with Otis Redding's Dock Of The Bay SAL-932,885 - definitely not 1962. I am surprised that there is no earlier release - there are later budget releases on Axis and Midi.

The Rolling Stones - 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!' The Rolling Stones In Concert (1970)
