| | My copy is as per images 463720/463721 and has the gatefold sleeve and 8 page booklet. So, contrary to what Sladesounds seems to say in his post of 10/10/13, this pressing did come with the 8 (not 4 surely?) page booklet. Mind you, the label looks to me to be more of a dark orange than red.
It's quite an unusual thing as it has the stamp of what appears to be a previous owner in Famagusta, although whether it was bought there or taken there is a moot point. The pages were loose but I've stuck them back in and I was quite pleased with it for a fiver (plays pretty decent too). |

| | @stoutfellow51:
There is no doubt that this was one of the nicest UK Elvis albums based on the American Christmas Album regarding the booklet. It is a great example to show digital and cd collector's of one of the finer examples of vinyl.
Some of the later Elvis box sets also come to mind. |

Thanks for the info.
Both South Pacific and The Sound of Music were released on the Red Seal label in the UK and as you say it was most unusual for the label to be used for a non-soundtrack or classical release.
One wonders whether the original gatefold sleeve release attracted a premium price tag when it came out. |

| | @stoutfellow51:
This mono album is quite unique as it's the only Elvis album ever released using RCA's RED SEAL label. I think mostly soundtracks were normally used?
The label you uploaded is a 1969 small red label that compares with the 1969 small orange versions. Because this has 'Red Seal' to the right of the spindle, the word 'Victor' that would normally be there was omitted.
This red label was the last version released as RB 16069. The album would be re-issued with a completely different sleeve, catalogue number (SF 8129) and in horrendous 'electronic stereo' instead of mono within twelve months.

| | @Strawberry_Lynn:
Hi, The image 537690: (SLEEVE NOTES on the right) is the inside of the rear of the gatefold album. The left image of 537690 is the last page of an 8 page booklet that was attached to the LP. Note: Image Number 463781 uploaded by kab2112 is the original back cover from this album.
I previously uploaded a later re-issue of Golden Records that also had a booklet, but which only contained 4 photos.
There was also other re-issues that came on a single sleeve and the SLEEVE NOTES are indeed the rear of these records.
Hope that helps..
Please check out my Elvis Vinyl Site that has more details.

| | @caseellerbroek: I'm very confused by Image No. 537690, "Inner page 4", the right side of which appears to be the rear of the sleeve. Did RCA use a different image for the back cover for this first pressing? |

| | Hi Folks,
Just took a couple of photos from one of my RB 16069 Red Seal albums. UK book has no mention of any variations with the E/T tax code. Possibly 1959 pressing?
Also added some pics from the later 1960's re-issued booklet. Photos are in correct order. I also have the version with the incorrect order. |

| | I personally would say that you have the correct sleeve for the record you own stoutfellow51, I believe the mentioning of Red Seal on the front cover was dropped when moving to the single pocket sleeve. Never seen one with it mentioned.
All of the RCA Elvis Presley albums had pressings on either the 1969 9cm diameter or 10cm diameter Orange label except for Loving You 10" LP (deleted in 1965 and re-packaged with a couple of singles tracks as Flaming Star & Summer Kisses), It Happened At The World's Fair, Fun In Acapulco, Kissin' Cousins, Frankie & Johnny and California Holiday |

| | Thanks for that okun69. My copy does indeed have a Red Seal 9cm diameter label, but do you think that it is in it's correct sleeve i.e. mid 60's non-gatefold of the same type as depicted by 78rpm maniac. The sleeve carries the boxed black RCA Victor logo and Cat. no. RB 16069, no mention of Red Seal anywhere on the sleeve. Several UK RCA Victor Elvis albums of the 1968/69 era seem to have been manufactured with the older black style label as well as the new orange style. Elvis Gold Records Vol 4 being one example.
I have taken the liberty of listing my Red seal copy as a new entry on Discogs and I will take your advice about using 1969 as the release date.
Note to self- must get out more ! |

okun69 7th Jul 2016
| | By the look of the photo that you've uploaded stoutfellow51 it looks as though it's a 1969 pressing, made just as RCA had introduced the Orange label. If it is a 1969 pressing, the diameter of the label should be 9cm. This quickly changed to the standard 10cm Orange label by the end of the year. |

| | Need a bit help here please. Just purchased a copy that I can't place anywhere including trawling through Discogs. Comes in a single RCA Victor mid 1960's sleeve identical to image 452016 from 78 rpm maniac with the same tracks as listed. The label is red in colour RCA Red Seal RB 16069 H2WP 8399 but the label text formatting is in the early 1970's RCA modern style that was introduced about 1968. It is a mono record manufactured in the UK and has a p 1958 annotation. Appears to be an early1970's record in a mid 1960's sleeve but the Cat.No. for this particular album post 1970 is RCA Victor SF 8129 on the Orange label with a totally different cover pic taken from the late 60's with Elvis in black leather. I have found an identical pic to upload as I can't do a scan of mine, ref 1099746. Any ideas? |
