confranfan SUBS 3rd Jun 2017		Vinyl Album Connie Francis And The Jordanaires - Sing Along With Connie Francis	During her 1955-1969 period with MGM Records, Connie Francis recorded an album of old time favorites under a special sponsorship arrangement with the Brylcream men's hairdressing company. The package was released on the Mati-Mor Supercords label, a division of General Harmonics & Video Corp. A3: MY WILD IRISH ROSE is the sing-a-long version. It is a different recording to that included on MGM E/SE CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS IRISH FAVORITES which was recorded on January 26th, 1962. All of the songs on this album were cut on 8-12 August, 1961 with the Cliff Parman Orchestra and the Jordanaires, during a solid week of Nashville sessions which also produced the MGM albums E/SE 3969 FOLK SONG FAVORITES and E/SE 3965 NEVER ON SUNDAY and single MGM K 13039 (He's My) Dreamboat bw Hollywood. Record labels credit the full title as BRYCREAM PRESENTS "SING ALONG WITH CONNIE FRANCIS AND THE JORDANAIRES".

Available only as 1 LP of a 2 LP set, the volumes were assigned their own consecutive catalog numbers and individual compilation titles on both record labels and the different picture sleeves in which they are housed. confranfan SUBS 2nd Jun 2017		Vinyl Album Connie Francis - Connie, Italiano	Six months after the issue of Providence Records Inc. LAURIE HOUSE LH-8019 2-LP set, CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS THE WORLD'S GREATEST ITALIAN SONGS, TV promotion was halted and release rights switched to Vista Marketing Inc. Unlike the Laurie House edition, this package was not made available in tape format. Following the decision to re-launch TV marketing with a new company, the original intention was to make the above issue available in a new picture sleeve and to include track details on the liner. The sleeve, which is identical to the original, but for the Realm Records logo superimposed over that of Laurie House, is a still from the TV commercial promoting the package and thus prompted the decision to retain it. The selected alternative, a candid shot taken in London in January 1978, was subsequently used for MGM MG 1-5406 I'M ME AGAIN. The above release does not feature the sub-title CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS THE WORLD'S GREATEST ITALIAN SONGS.

confranfan SUBS 31st May 2017		Vinyl Album Connie Francis - 12 Greatest Hits	This album was simultaneously released on CD (see Mercury Latino 839 924-2) and MC (see Mercury Latino 839 923-4) and is a companion set to the preceding 839 922-1. A1: A4: & A5: GRACIAS, LA GENTE, and YO SE, all recorded on July 5th, 1963 made their US debuts on this album, as did A6: LA PALOMA (Portuguese version) recorded on May 29th, 1962, B4: POR UNA RAZON recorded on June 16th, 1964 and B5: SIMBA recorded March 24trh, 1965. Both the Spanish version of A3: LET'S MAKE IT LOVE TONIGHT (TE PUEDES IR DESPUES), and Portuguese version B1: VAMOS AMAR ESTA NOITE were released for the first time here. These two selections and the English version were among the few 1980's recordings to be marketed by PolyGram. B3: NOCHES ESPANOLAS Y TU is a 1989 composite remix of SPANISH NIGHTS AND YOU from differing takes recorded on May 9th, 1967. SPANISH NIGHTS AND YOU (English and Spanish version) had first been released on the single MGM K 13610 coupled with INVIERNO TRISTE on the singles MGM K 14089 and MGM LA 3007. These can all be found within the 45cat site by doing searches on the appropriate catalog numbers mentioned. A2: LA NOVIA has been culled from MGM SE 4298 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS THE ALL TIME INTERNATIONAL HITS and B6: LA BAMBA from MGM SE 4411 CONNIE FRANCIS LIVE AT THE SAHARA IN LAS VEGAS.
