Jasper 29th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Frankie And Johnny | Strangely Paul Lichter's book "The Boy Who Dared To Rock" has a Pickwick release listed as cat # ACI-7007, release date as November 1976 and same tracks in a different order starting with What Every Woman Lives For and ending with Petunia, The Gardner's Daughter. Maybe there is another version but seems doubtful.

Jasper 28th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Joel - Piano Man | Just checked mine yellow-orange 'Sunburst' variety labels so solid orange must of been short-lived. '76 probably right for the first BJ CBS 45s - would have been little point releasing anything off Piano Man or Streetlife Serenade.
Jasper 28th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Joel - Piano Man | According to the Michael deLooper pdf - Piano Man LP SBP 234656 along with Streetlife Serenade SBP 234655 were released on CBS in June 1975. I bought my copy as soon as it was available from the Australian Record Club (May '76).

Jasper 25th Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumPetula Clark - A Golden Hour Of Petula Clark | Hi Mikerhyl - I did see her here in Melbourne a few years back and really enjoyed it - probably just the 60's medley was a bit disjointed. My wife's favourite song is Kiss Me Goodbye and she performed that beautifully.
Jasper 25th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Joel - Piano Man | Thanks PhilMH - I thought that the original issue was on CBS but on checking I bought my copy in 1976 that's why it seemed strange. So the original Aussie issue would be this Philips one then subsequently re-issued on the CBS label.
Jasper 24th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Joel - Piano Man | What's the story with this one. I know it is a legit release but why on the Philips label seems out of place - all Billy Joel items I have are on CBS/Columbia.
Jasper 22nd Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumPetula Clark - The Most Of Petula Clark | Added inlay and disc images.
Jasper 22nd Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumPetula Clark - A Golden Hour Of Petula Clark | Added Inlay, disc and a bit better front image. Should I bother to mention that I bought this new in Australia through a normal retail outlet?
Jasper 20th Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumPetula Clark - The Ultimate Collection | Added rear tray and disc images.
Jasper 18th Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumPetula Clark - The Special Collection | Added Inlay and Disc images.
Jasper 8th Jan 2017 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road | On a similar note I have a 3CD box set of Mental As Anything - the box has it's own bar code, cat # and title (Mental As Anything 123) it was released with the Sony logo - 1 x CD was on the CBS label, another on CBS "Select" and the other on Epic. These were all available individually. I was thinking of entering it as a box set as per details on the box itself and a just a list of the CD titles then in notes listing the individual cat # of the CDs. Then add the Cds as individual entries and in the notes mention that the Cd was also available in Australia as a box set under the cat# , bar code and title on the box.

Jasper 5th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBooker T. And The M.G.'s - Green Onions | Hi PhilMH - I would have bought this 1969/70 along with Otis Redding's Dock Of The Bay SAL-932,885 - definitely not 1962. I am surprised that there is no earlier release - there are later budget releases on Axis and Midi.
Jasper 5th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!' The Rolling Stones In Concert | Added original issue labels - cover looks the same.
Jasper 5th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumRobe G. - Guitar Sounds Of Robe G. | I have entered this as Mono LP although I am not sure if it was released via Universal Record Club in stereo but it was subsequently issued by Universal Summit (who took over the back catalogue of Universal Record Club after they ceased operation) in stereo under cat # SRA 250 049.
Jasper 3rd Jan 2017 | | 12" SingleGloria Gaynor - I Will Survive (Extended Disco Version) | Added label images.
Jasper 2nd Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumBuddy Holly And The Crickets - Buddy Holly And The Crickets | Hi wax_museum - I have noticed that these Universal Record Club LPs have confused a few on Discogs (e.g. Del Shannon - Runaway LP) - the covers just show the "U-..." cat# with the SU (stereo) or UP (mono) on the labels and often not mentioning mono on the mono releases.
Jasper 2nd Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Easy Come, Easy Go | Added label images and entered date as May 1967 - A567 printed at bottom right-hand side of back cover - going along with PhilMH theory, seems to be working out so far.
Jasper 30th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Promised Land | Just noticed track A1 on the label has the composer credit as Chuch Berry - you would think that they would have the title track correct. My copy bought 1977 - original 1972 issue probably has orange label.
Jasper 29th Dec 2016 | | Cassette AlbumFastway - Trick Or Treat | Tape shell trashed added for completeness, if someone has better please replace images.
Jasper 29th Dec 2016 | | Cassette AlbumBay City Rollers - Dedication | I don't have the inlay for this one - just the cassette.
Jasper 26th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumLouis Armstrong And His Orchestra - Jazz Classics | Uploaded Side 1 (correction requested). Thanks PhilMH. - N.B. A5 - Heah Me Talkin' To Ya on label - Hear Me Talkin' To Ya on front cover.
Jasper 26th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumLouis Armstrong And His Orchestra - Jazz Classics | I picked this up a few years back in a bulk lot of about 30 albums and haven't gotten round to looking at them until now. I have never heard of the Popular Record Club but do recognise a couple of the titles from the Universal Record Club which I was a member of for a few years. It looks like it was a forerunner of the Universal Record Club. I was going to enter this as 1958 in line with the N.Z. release on Discogs (which would seem about right) then I thought that the MX4828 matrix no. might reveal something.
Jasper 22nd Dec 2016 | | Cassette AlbumCarly Simon - Hotcakes | Had this great idea to use Oomph glue remover to wipe off a couple of sticky spots on the cassette shell.
Jasper 21st Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Rock Album | Interesting the p.1977 only appears on side 1 after Bat Out Of Hell (which was 1977) so may only refer to that track does make it confusing.
Jasper 20th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Rock Album | Hi,
Looking at the TV advertised database this would be 1981. This database is not a bible but generally a very good guide.

Jasper 20th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Supremes And The Four Tops - The Return Of The Magnificent Seven | I purchased this album on the 26th October 1973 from the WRC catalogue current at the time so should be a 1973 release.
Jasper 18th Dec 2016 | | BookBilly Thorpe - Most People I Know (Think That I'm Crazy) | Hi Lee, I have this as part of a commemorative edition that was issued after his death in 2007. It is a combination of "Sex and Thugs and Rock 'n'Roll" and this book (comes in at 426 pages). I found the first book far more interesting and easier to read. It focused more on his early career a lot of it his time spent in Kings Cross the evolution of the Aztecs, adventures with local criminals and prostitutes. This book I struggled through much of it relating to his drug induced episodes in and out of reality and it lost me many times along the way. Anyway if you haven't read his first book - as Molly would say "do yourself a favour".

Jasper 17th Dec 2016 | | 12" SingleLou Reed - Street Hassle | Do you still have the pretty girl?
Jasper 16th Dec 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumCat Stevens - Teaser And The Firecat | O.K let's see where this one takes us. Will upload inner gate fold and gold label images later. I don't want to squash it in the scanner folded out.
Snippet from Go-Set magazine 27/11/1971 - Another album of interest is Cat Stevens, "Teaser And The Firecat" album, which Festival released on November the 8th. The album, according to Festival, earned a gold record prior to release, through advance orders placed from all States, and this week went into the No. 7 spot on the album charts, only one week after release.
