"Margie" capped off a busy recording week for Bix, during which he recorded multiple takes of twenty different pieces of music. This included George Gershwin's "Concerto in F Major" with Paul Whiteman's Orchestra, which would be released on three 12" discs (
7171-M,
7317-M), in addition to seven other tracks with Whiteman and three with Frank Trumbauer's orchestra. A high point of the week was Bix's incredible 32-measure solo on "Sweet Sue—just you" (
50103-D).

It's interesting that labels credit Lenny Hayton on piano and George Marsh on drums on both tracks. Most sources, including the IAJRC link provided below, credit Roy Bargy on piano and put Lenny Hayton on drums on "Margie". Bargy is also credited as pianist on "Somebody Stole My Gal" and Stan King is thought to be the drummer on this one. George Marsh isn't credited on either recording.
