Magic Marmalade 28th Jan 2025		The Walking Dead 2010 - 2022	I found the first season DVD in the charity shop last week, and have watched it all now - pretty good, very strong Stephen King vibes, rendered in a fairly good stab a realism for the genre. I will pick up any subsequent seasons I find as and when they turn up, but will not go hunting for them, as I don't really "do TV", as I can't commit to any story that can't be told in under 3hrs. - One major plot gripe though (Spoiler!) at the end of the first episode, the dude ends up in a tank... A TANK! Stay in, and drive the bloody tank, you fool!...It's a TANK!!!!

23skidoo 15th Jan 2025		Turn-On 1969	The story goes that it was cancelled mid-broadcast and the legend has it some places never even completed the broadcast. Why it failed has been a discussion for half a century, but the general consensus is American viewers (or perhaps more accurately network bosses) weren't accustomed to the type of surreal comedy, without point in some cases, displayed here. Monty Python was still a few years away, and Laugh-In was pushing the envelope about as far as it could be pushed. If Turn On had been made a few years later, or for something like PBS (which is where Python thrived) it probably would have done OK.

23skidoo 10th Jan 2025		I Am Groot 2022 - 2023	Technically the series ended in 2023 as there has been no news of a third season, however as of late 2023 there was still hope for a third season. I'll put an end date for now.
23skidoo 10th Jan 2025		Power 2014 - 2020	Someone took off the 2020 end date. As I mentioned Power Book II is not a continuation of the original series, which concluded in 2020. I put it back.
23skidoo 10th Jan 2025		The Penguin 2024 - Now	As of early January 2025 media is reporting that a second season is under consideration and the show hasn't been cancelled. However the first season was intended to be a miniseries. Then again this has happened before (the UK miniseries Victoria was supposed to end after 8 episodes and ended up running 3 seasons. Ditto Star Trek: Picard wasn't planned for a 3-season run either until it did.)

albert 5th Dec 2024		The Banana Splits 1968 - 1970	The British version differs to the USA version with different running times per episode, they might have chopped the segments and rearranged them into different shows, There were a lot of comments about this on Amazon when the series first got issued on dvd. In case you are not aware, there is a Banana Splits horror movie which was made a few years back. The lovable bunch are now animatronics which go on the rampage after learning that their show is to be axed. I don't think it was a successful transition.

jimbo2021 19th Nov 2024		Police Woman 1974 - 1978	Completely Random Trivia.. I noticed actor Charles Dierkop played the role of "Pete Royster" in this series. He has been in a lot of stuff, but I immediately knew his name as the uncredited "Horned Mutant" in S1.E13 of LOST IN SPACE, entitled "One of Our Dogs is Missing." As a matter of fact, we just lost Mr. Dierkop this year, back on Sunday, February 25. He was 87.

edlongus SUBS 28th Oct 2024		Turn-On 1969	jimbo, I actually watched that premiere/swan song episode when it was broadcast!! Watched it on the family 23" Admiral B&W TV set (we didn't get a color TV set until 1971). I was 12 years old and didn't get many of the jokes. Then, I remember we used 2 get a weekly TV magazine in the Sunday Washington Post newspaper, and it listed the 2nd episode of "Turn-On", but when we tuned in, it wasn't there.
