Vinyl Album
Carl Perkins - Dance Album Of Carl Perkins
Track B3 was not written by CP.This was due to Sam Philips lack of a search for the original source. There is actually a clause in the copyright that denies royalty to the estate of CP.A release in 1957,on Decca,by The York Brothers, credits the writers as "Johnny"Country"Mathis & Webb Pierce".However, there was also a release of the song,on Acme,by Gene Thompson, but was uncredited,in 1951.A research of the composer credit goes back to 1936,for Alabama singer,Rex Griffin.

Elvis Presley - Rock & Roll No.2
....but although the 1st LP has the same cover in both the UK & USA,the sleeves on this 2nd LP had different pics. N.B.the UK issue had a photo that never surfaced again. When the album was re-issued in 1962,UK-RCA used the same pic as the USA issue.

Frank Hutchison - Worried Blues / The Train That Carried The Girl From Town
Were these re-recorded "Electrically" to replace the earlier "Acoustical" takes. Many companies were doing this at that time, although some companies (i.e. Victor) did use the same catalogue numbers for the electrical re-recordings..

Roy Acuff And His Smoky Mountain Boys - Advice To Joe / When My Money Run Out (I Lost All My Friends)
At the time of this release, there was a rush to issue this type of material, the vogue being engendered by the Cold War / Berlin Airlift etc. There's actually a whole spate of this type of stuff, many in Country. However, the hits did not materialise in the way the companies thought they would;even ol' Hank(as Luke)with Fred's skilled help, managed to flop with his excellent effort......and the CW dragged on for another 4 decades ho hum.

Jimmie Davis - Barnyard Stomp / Red Nightgown Blues
The Shreveport Home Wreckers (Ed Schaeffer & Oscar Woods) feature on the A-side, which is a paean to sheer, unadulterated, uncensored filth. How many would have volunteered to "head Corrine", as per the singer's extremely generous invitation???!!. Copy sold on ebay 3 years ago for £100.00, which was an absolute steal.

Elsie Carlisle - Body And Soul / My Man O' War
Very rarely did British female recording artists attempt to take on the risqué songs from American Blues artists. However, this was an excellent cover of the Lizzie Miles 1929 Victor original. Immediately banned by the BBC, of course. Elsie also recorded this gem for the Filmophonic label under the name Amy Brunton. No major UK label would allow her to record the song, which is actually superb.

N.B. The original version of this song by Lizzie Miles (US Victor) gives the composer as Andy Razaf.
