Lovinda,

The scans of record number DNX 8024 (images 727970 & 727971) belong on a new page. You should create a new page with this new catalog number and either reload the images there, or have a moderator move them over.

This situation should be treated the same way this Billie Holiday box set is treated, with the individual records entered on separate pages, and then the album entered on another page to tie the records all together. If we don't have the album available to get the information from, then we just enter the individual records until someone enters the album some time in the future.

It's done this way because these albums often get broken up, and people end up with just one record of an album. This way they can look their record up on the site and find it.

Rosemary Clooney - Ford Thunderbird Postcard Phonograph Record ("Ford-Song") (1955)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's not a Thunderbird. Here are some of the reasons.

First, the early T-Birds had some chrome hash marks (nine of them I think) on the fender just in front of the door hinges that don't appear to be in this photo.

Second, the 1956 T-Bird is famous for its "porthole" of a rear window on the hardtops, which, even though the scantly dressed female is partially blocking, is not evident here.

Third, There is a long chrome piece that starts just above the headlight on the Fairlane and runs across the top of the fender and down to the door, and then to the back of the car. This separates the two colors on the often two-toned Fairlanes. This feature doesn't exist on the '55 or '56 T-Bird. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing a two-toned Thunderbird from these years.

Fourth, if you look at the front bumper, the two vertical parts are in a sort of bullet shape on the Thunderbird, not so on the Fairlane.

All-in-all, without being an expert in either one of these styles of car, I think it's safe to say that the picture on the postcard is a Fairlane rather than a Thunderbird.

But, I have been wrong before, ask my two ex-wives.

Rosemary Clooney - Ford Thunderbird Postcard Phonograph Record ("Ford-Song") (1955)

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the car in the picture is not a Thunderbird, but is a 1956 Ford Fairlane.

A '56 Fairlane was my very first car as a teen, just getting my drivers license. Mine was two toned black and white.

Ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Well, since nobody else has mentioned it, this gem of a tune was given a new life in 2008 with the release of the game, "Fallout 3". There is now a whole new generation who love this song.

Here is a video teaser from that game.

Andrews Sisters - Rum And Coca-Cola / One Meat Ball (1944)

Morey Amsterdam, who is credited with writing the hit, "Rum And Coca-Cola" is best known for his role as Buddy Sorrell on the American television series "The Dick Van Dyke Show", which ran from 1961 to 1966.

Even though he is still given credit for writing the song, there was a version of this song originally written by a calypso singer from Trinidad named Lord Invader (Rupert Grant). After a 3 year copyright battle, Lord Invader was granted royalties, but Amsterdam was still allowed to receive writer credit for his version.

Spike Jones And His City Slickers - Clink, Clink, Another Drink / Hotcha Cornia (Black Eyes) (1945)
Jarkka, your labels are only very marginally better, if at all, but your saving grace is that they are actually label variations.

Although very close to being identical to gregs78s' labels, yours are different in that the juxtaposition of the lettering to the letters and numbers just above and below, in some cases is not the same.

Most notably, look at the catalog number on the "A" side. The upright of the "B" on your copy is just to the right of the letter "e" in "Made". On gregs78s' copy the upright of the "B" is in line with the "i" in "in".

Now look at the "V" in "Vocalists", and its' relationship to the "SP" in "SPIKE" on the two "A" sides, as well as the matrix number relationship to the letters above it on both sides, especially the "B" side.

There are other differences on both sides, but bottom line is, they are different variations.

The Clovers - One Mint Julep / Middle Of The Night (1952)
Thanks again for the reply, fixbutte.

Rather than continuing to beat the deletion dead horse, I just have
one suggestion, which you can take with however many grains of
salt you wish.

On the Amos Milburn edited upload, only the moderators can approve
the edits, and only the moderators can replace the default setting, so
why would it not be correct to change the "Uploaded By" name to
reflect the person who actually uploaded the label, and place the
member's name who edited the scan in the description. Just seems
like the right thing to do, and I don't agree that it is obvious who
did what. People just look to see who uploaded a label, and
don't compare labels to see if it is the same as another one.

In fact, you guys do have a "Hidden" feature don't you, same as
45cat? If you do, then there should never be two of the same
label, with the same variation on a page. The lesser quality one
should be hidden. If you did that, then it would look like you
are the uploader of that Milburn label, and someone would have
to click on the "Hidden" link to see 55bluesman's original.

Alright, I'm done beating both of these dead horses now. I'm
going to grab something for a headache. /;-)
