Magic Marmalade 9th Dec 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | [YouTube Video]
|
Magic Marmalade 8th Dec 2015 | | TVI Claudius (1976) | It's good to see the drama and fine acting wasn't lost on you zab! :)
|
Magic Marmalade 7th Dec 2015 | | TVI Claudius (1976) | I must have seen the censored version :)...?... :(
|
Magic Marmalade 7th Dec 2015 | | TVI Claudius (1976) | It boggles my mind why the BBC can't make good tv for less, and has all these budget problems.
This, like most of the BBC stuff we know and love (And would rather watch than most new output), is more compelling, and all for the production cost of a few painted sets in a studio, a set of great actors, and a cracking script.
We won't cry if there ain't no C.G.I you know!
|
Magic Marmalade 5th Dec 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | Wonderfully surreal moment:
"Was there a child in it?"
How come you have to wait an eternity for something like Sherlock to produce a new series because of the commitments of the actors etc. and yet Toby Jones finds time to be brilliant in multiple things at once with no bother?
These series seem to be on for too short a time as well.
|
Magic Marmalade 4th Dec 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | Last one in the series last night.
More!!!
(Please Sir Mr Crook - and BBC -...can I have some More?)
Christmas special soon.
|
Magic Marmalade 20th Nov 2015 | | TVCheers (1982 - 1993) | I didn't know it had been released as a single... but I suppose it makes sense that it would have been.
...So just checked 45cat, and the video for it is on the entry there.
Cheers Single - 45cat.
Doesn't really have the same feel does it?
(Sounds a bit cobbled together from the elements of the actual short theme tune, and some disjointed verses shoe-horned in there)
P.S. I like the colour version for Littlest Hobo Skid.
|
Magic Marmalade 31st Oct 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | Best prog on the box!
(Just need the farmer back in the show somehow... and I have to say each episode feels a little too short - at least 45 mins would be good).
|
Magic Marmalade 12th Oct 2015 | | TVB.J. And The Bear (1979 - 1981) | It does exist!
...Hallelujah... it does exist!
This is one that for ages I kept saying to people: "Do you remember that show...?", and all I got was blank stares, like I was nuts for recalling a TV prog with a guy in a red and white truck with a chimp!
I was beginning to think I had imagined it myself, until it popped up as a random, and I recognised the truck.
Vindication!
(I shall now hunt down everyone I ever had that conversation with, and say: "HA!... I Told you so!!!")
Had a very short run on British TV... probably got a very cool response, and got pulled after a couple of episodes.
|
Magic Marmalade 2nd Oct 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | When the original airing of this first series finished, the announcer said it would be back in the autumn... meantime I'll enjoy watching it again!
That farmer (and the actor playing him) is just great :)
"Anybody seen my dogs?"
|
Magic Marmalade 26th Sep 2015 | | TVBod (1975) | "Here comes... Bod.
Badaba-doobado-ba-da- do-do, badaba-dooba- do- ba-da do...
Classic!
|
Magic Marmalade 26th Jun 2015 | | TVCheers (1982 - 1993) | As soon as the titles start, and the theme tune plays... all is right with the world!
The best TV theme tune ever?
I'm convinced if anyone worked up an extended version of it, and released it a s a single, it'd go straight to the top of the chart no sweat... I'd like to hear Oasis try it!
(Although the theme to The Littlest Hobo is a contender too! :)
|
Magic Marmalade 7th Jun 2015 | | TVER (1994 - 2009) | Ah Casualty!
I stopped watching that when the production values got higher.
It was principle weekend viewing for those about to get lightly toasted with pals... giving us the immortal exchange:
"Casualty?"
"Not yet, but keep the phone ready!"
This was always good, but I kind of floated in and out of the habit of watching it though.
|
Magic Marmalade 5th Jun 2015 | | TVGotham (2014 - 2019) | This is brilliant.
I was worried they would make a fairly safe super-hero for kids thing... but really very dark, violent, and disturbing... Great!
Robin Lord-Taylor, who plays the Penguin not mentioned in selected cast.... he is the real superstar here.
Although all the future villains are well cast (Riddler, and so-far brief appearance of the Joker).
|
Magic Marmalade 5th Jun 2015 | | TVSorry! (1981 - 1988) | I only really remember the theme tune... BaaAAoow!
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVChorlton And The Wheelies (1976 - 1979) | "Ello little old leh-de!"
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVBatman (1966 - 1968) | I always thought Robin Williams would have made a cracking Penguin, but sadly we'll never know).
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVIsis (1975 - 1976) | The dog in Downton Abbey you mean? :)
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVIsis (1975 - 1976) | The Female Egyptian deity ISIS has a deep appeal for people when naming things it seems.
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVButton Moon (1980 - 1988) | BUTTON MOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!
I loved this!
|
Magic Marmalade 31st May 2015 | | TVThe Flumps (1977) | without wishing to go too much into the Thatcher discussion here in polite society... One memory I have is my first year in infants, when we went for our first break, where I was presented with a big glass of lovely milk, and cookies...
This was wonderful to have every day, until the very next term, we lined up to recieve our daily milk and cookies, and none were forthcoming. I remember the awkward, and pained expression on the dinner-ladies' faces as they had to tell a row of infants there were not doing that any more.
So Thatcher did rob me of my Milk and Cookies!!!! Grrrr.
(Oh the scars of tender years that last a lifetime!)
|
Magic Marmalade 30th May 2015 | | TVThe Flumps (1977) | AAAAaaaaarrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just undid years of therapy by posting that shnozzle!
But you're spot on, on all counts there.... Words and pictures, that was it... and I'd forgotten about the pencil!
(I lernd absolutely nuffing at skool)
That I didn'y mind so much, but that Picture Box... jeez, I haven't seen that in donkey's years, and just as disturbing as I remember it (Oh my fragile young miind!!!) - albeit whoever posted it on youtube has re-edited it to make it longer, and I suspect, messed around with the Audio a bit to make it even more trippy.
I remember the big telly on wheels too (I'm smiling as I recall that!).
It did occur to me the other day that with all this Brit TV on the site that we grew up with, anyone born and raised in another country must be wondering what the hell was going on with us... no wonder we're so grumpy and strange!
There was another one I vaguely remember with a kind of tip-ex man... like a badly drawn Leonard Rositter in black marker pen outline on white paper, that used to flop about the place (Along the lines of Words and Pictures)
|
Magic Marmalade 30th May 2015 | | TVThe Flumps (1977) | By the way, two TV shows I vaguely remember them making us watch at school... one had this floating orange thing with letters stuck to it's head (Wordy or something) and the other I remember almost nothing about except the opening sequence which had this out of focus revolving ruby box that was completely creepy.
...any ideas what these were?
|
Magic Marmalade 30th May 2015 | | TVThe Flumps (1977) | pa pah, pa pah, pa-Pah pa-paah!
Classic!
I can remember sitting in front of the telly as a kid while mum made me cauliflower cheese for tea...hhmmmmm (smells like armpits, but tastes great).
(Just a bit disappointing to find yourself resembling a flump more closely the older you get!)
Thanks for posting schnozzle.
|
Magic Marmalade 26th May 2015 | | TVThe Girl From U.N.C.L.E. (1966 - 1967) | Well I suppose women had not been invented yet..
they sometimes try this kind of thing though don't they:
Superman - supergirl - Batman - Batgirl - The Bionic man - etc.
All a bit cynical, and people just see straight through it all (There's a new supergirl series been advertised on Empire's website at the moment - she's a hip young go getter reflecting the modern woman etc. Prediction: FLOP)
You kind of understand the frustration of women wanting someone to just write something original for them to act in, rather than just a cast-off franchise cash in.
Go Girl!!! (Ooh, that sounds like a good name for a female superhero, think I'll patent that, then I can follow it up with Go man, Go Dog, and Go team....)
|
Magic Marmalade 26th May 2015 | | TVThe Girl From U.N.C.L.E. (1966 - 1967) | I didn't even know there was a girl from UNCLE!
|
Magic Marmalade 24th May 2015 | | TVDetectorists (2014 - Now) | Great show, can't wait for second series!
The mad farmer with the invisible dogs is one of the best characters I've seen in a long while.
|
Magic Marmalade 24th May 2015 | | TVMax Headroom (1987 - 1988) | Frewer was in the TV adaptation of Stephen King's: the Stand.
|
Magic Marmalade 24th May 2015 | | TVSpace: 1999 (1975 - 1977) | I know I saw this... it's just one I have no specific memories of.
|
Magic Marmalade 23rd May 2015 | | TVUnder The Dome (2013 - 2015) | Dooooooooooohhhhh- m!
|
