Armchair Thriller

1978 - 1981
FYI Early in the series was the story Quiet As A Nun, based on the novel by Antonia Fraser. This featured the Jemima Shore character, later to expand into a Jemima Shore Investigates series featuring Patricia Hodge in the lead role instead of Maria Aitken . This story is one of those 'behind the sofa' moments for people of a certain age (like me!)

Finding Vivian Maier

2013
Rated 10/10
An absolutely extrordinary documentary made by John Maloof who stumbled over some of Vivian Maier's photograph negatives at an auction room. He subsequently hunted down her storage locker and other box lots sold at the auction room and introduced the world to the many talents of a completely unknown gifted street photographer.

WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE
Vivian Dorothy Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) was an American street photographer. Maier worked for about forty years as a nanny, mostly in Chicago's North Shore, pursuing photography during her spare time. She took more than 150,000 photographs during her lifetime, primarily of the people and architecture of Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles, although she also traveled and photographed worldwide. During her lifetime, Maier's photographs were unknown and unpublished; many of her negatives were never printed. A Chicago collector, John Maloof, acquired some of Maier's photos in 2007, while two other Chicago-based collectors, Ron Slattery and Randy Prow, also found some of Maier's prints and negatives in her boxes and suitcases around the same time. Maier's photographs were first published on the Internet in July 2008, by Slattery, but the work received little response. In October 2009, Maloof linked his blog to a selection of Maier's photographs on the image-sharing website Flickr, and the results went viral, with thousands of people expressing interest. Maier's work subsequently attracted critical acclaim, and since then, Maier's photographs have been exhibited around the world. ~ From Wikipedia

I first heard about her through an Alan Yentob 'Imagine' documentary on BBC4 back in 2013.

Killing Eve

2018 - 2022
Rated 9/10
Another top quality BBC series that I recommend taking the time to watch. Eight 40 minute episodes that I personally watched over two nights.

Based on the Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings the series serves up a feast of subtle British humour and action carried out with quality acting by the players. Although not billed as such, this drama has a thick underlying element of black humour that just makes it a pleasure to watch.

Sandra Oh as Eve is excellent but Jodie Comer as Villanelle steals the show with a character that you can't help to adore given her quirky, if some what, dark and bizarre behaviour (but then as a psychopathic contract killer what can you expect).

The background stories of the main players fills out over the series but there is obviously a lot more to see and learn and episode 8 leaves me in no doubt that there will be a future series (or two).

Bodyguard

2018
Rated 9/10
The story is based on a ex-soldier now employed as part of the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London's Metropolitan Police Service. Issues stemming from his Afghanistan service are affecting both his private and work life as the officer assigned to protect the Home Secretary.

The whole series moves at a very fast pace with a well written story-line that has many twists and turns to keep you guessing up to the last episode.

This one lives up to its hype, I highly recommend watching this series.

Dennis The Menace [1959]

1959 - 1963
The UK Dennis first appeared in The Beano and was drawn by David Law, the character got progressively more delinquent and destructive during his 1960's peak.
David Law also drew Beril The Peril for The Topper, and Corporal Clott for The Dandy, all of his strips are inventive and often quite hilarious.
These days the UK Dennis is very tame, and unfunny.

R.I.P.Geoffrey Hayes, you`re one of the greatest presenters and will be sadly missed, and certainly entertained children of all ages.I remember the show, when I was 5 years old, when the show came out and used to screen on Mondays to Fridays at 12:10 p.m. One TV critic described Rainbow as Britain`s answer to Sesame Street, according to one presenter, and I will miss you so much, and you`re one of the best in Children`s TV shows.

Trying to see if I can find a title card with the show's original title but it appears the title was announced in voiceover only and didn't appear on a title card, but maybe someone can correct me on that. All that said, is it confirmed that the original title wasn't The Country Show if the B&W version was the first to be broadcast?
